Kari Lake’s Election Challenge Falls Flat
WSJ ^

Posted on 12/28/2022 7:22:11 AM PST by Brilliant

Unsuccessful...candidates are entitled to go to court, but if they don’t have real evidence, it’s an exercise in begging to lose... That’s what happened in Arizona to Kari Lake... who fell short by 0.7 percentage point, or 17,117 votes, ...outside of recount range.

“A court setting such a margin aside...has never been done in the history of the United States,” state Judge Peter Thompson ruled...

Maricopa County...had inexcusable problems with its ballot printers...which contributed to long lines. But this was hardly the stuff of conspiracy theories...

Some ballots were printed slightly too small...which stopped the county’s tabulators from accepting them. Ms. Lake argued this must have been intentional and malicious, despite having no direct evidence...

Yet too-small ballots were still tallied... Although some Maricopa voters might have been dissuaded by lines, “there was no evidence at Trial” that anyone was “turned away or refused a ballot.”

Ms. Lake said she intends to appeal, but the evidence suggests that what really cost her the election was ticket-splitting. In Maricopa, ...Lake won 77,342 fewer votes than GOP state Treasurer Kimberly Yee; 39,165 fewer than the GOP’s U.S. House candidates; and 23,901 fewer than a local GOP prosecutor...

Maricopa County asked the court to impose sanctions on Ms. Lake... Lake tweeted an article claiming the judge’s ruling probably “was ghostwritten” by “left-wing attorneys.” She later deleted the tweet. Judge Thompson ...declined the request for sanctions...

Judges also have rejected lawsuits from Mark Finchem, the Republican who lost the Secretary of State race by 4.8 points, or 120,208 votes, ...Abe Hamadeh, who lost the close Attorney General’s race by 511 ballots. What a sad and ignominious end to eight years of successful GOP governance in Arizona. Gov. Doug Ducey has cut taxes and expanded school choice, while winning re-election in 2018 by 14 points...

Surprise at the WSJ sugar coating this and heaping scorn on the losers that GOPee would not support? Absolutely not. She was a flawed candidate. Rona said so and the WSJ is just piling on. We have to save the GOP from MAGA.

How to explain ticket splitting? McCain voters who hate Trump-allied MAGA?

In order for the Court to consider whether there was any election fraud one has to prove there is but you can’t unless you already did.

Such a standard didn’t exist during Bush Gore 2000.

Well sure it fell flat. The judge mailed it in.

THREAD: After reading this judges order in detail, it is a useless exercise to try to counter it with evidence, because he didn’t use any to come to his decision. What an absolute disgrace it truly is.

Doug Ducey has cut taxes and expanded school choice, while winning re-election in 2018 by 14 points..

And this overlooks his most successful action - seemingly cow-towing to the MAGA crowd on border defense, then pulling the rug out from under them and agreeing with the open border crowd to tear down his temporary wall. Hail to the backstabbers, the corrupt, the weak, the slimeballs, the anti-[banned Stanford word Americans].

I believe most already knew this before it was ever brought to trial.

“A court setting such a margin aside...has never been done in the history of the United States,”

Just because a judge doesn’t do what obviously has to be done under the guise of “has never been done” isn’t the same as Lake’s election challenge “falling flat.” Quite the contrary, her case actually exposed some of the corruption in the 2022 election. But like every other corrupt election, there are either no remedies or the courts refuse to take action.

We’ve simply moved from hidden election fraud and malfeasance, to “In Your Face” election fraud and malfeasance. With required certification dates where election issues can no longer be addressed (except in New York, where you can demand a new election because the Democrat lost to a liar), the Democrats have future elections in the bag.

And it will only get worse . . .

Banana Republicans are enjoying a MAGA candidate getting the raw end of an election.
Like with Trump..

I recall seeing a Maricopa county 2018 vote count Tweet somewhere, and someone questing how a R Governor and a D Senator could both do so well in Maricopa..

It’s easier to see how it can happen now.

Arizona deserves its border open and its Brandon and Hobbs circus ....

It’s exactly the stuff of conspiracy theories.... theories that I believe are true. Why? Because things were supposed to be checked out before the election. It’s mostly the Republican voters who voted that day that got disenfranchised, discouraged and walked away. I’ve seen the footage of it happening.

Are you trying to give serious analysis to a corrupt vote count?

“Why? Because things were supposed to be checked out before the election.”

Everything WAS checked out before the election. The day before Election Day, all systems and equipment worked perfectly. All through the early voting period, all systems and equipment worked perfectly.

The day that would be mostly Lake voters — Election Day — all systems and equipment malfunctioned.
