PHOENIX — A judge has denied Katie Hobbs and Maricopa County's motions for sanctions against Kari Lake. However, Hobbs was awarded roughly $33,000 in the decision.
Judge Peter Thompson, who oversaw the recent two-day trial of Kari Lake's election-challenging lawsuit, found that Lake's claims were not brought before the court in bad faith.
"The Court agrees with [Katie Hobbs and Maricopa County's] statements that election contests are purely statutory and provide for limited form of relief," Judge Thompson said in Tuesday's release.
Judge Thompson reinforced his ruling that Lake did not present sufficient evidence to prove her claims that the 2022 election was maliciously interfered with, but said that her lawsuit was filed in good faith.
"There is no doubt that each side believes firmly in its position with great conviction. The fact that [Kari Lake] failed to meet the burden of clear and convincing evidence required[...] does not equate to a finding that her claims were, or were not, groundless and presented in bad faith."
Judge Thompson denied the motion for sanctions on those grounds.

AZ citizens in the Red counties NEED to flood the AZ courts with suits! Sue EVERYONE for disenfranchised! The mayor, hobbs etc…let them feel the heat! Then, after all the lawsuits do a recall on Hobbs. You know they’ll have enough signatures. The problem is, they’ll do a California and reject half of them after the allowed limited time to turn in the petition with signatures. These bastards are evil and folks let’s face it Arizona is not red anymore. Arizona is resembling California big-time. The ruling that “Lake did not present sufficient evidence to prove her claims” is utter nonsense - she should not have had to prove anything at all.
The burden of proof is on the state of AZ to prove the election was fair, by submitting to a full audit. By AZ state law, all ballots counted must have signature verification and proper chain of custody - and an audit trail must be preserved so that their validity can be PROVEN when challenged.
Keri Lake campaign should not have even needed to sue - all she should have had to do is demonstrate that significant unverified ballots were counted - a fact which nobody even disputing!
The facts that they blocked a full audit and forced delegates to certify under duress, tells us everything we need to know. The election was rigged.
