China’s hospitals are so overwhelmed after the sudden reversal of the country’s “zero-COVID” policies that many have been forced to turn away ambulances and critically ill patients.
Emergency rooms in smaller cities and towns outside Bejing are teeming with sick patients, slumped on benches and lying on the floor due to a lack of beds.
With intensive care units at capacity, the facilities are not able to admit all of the patients being rushed to them in ambulances.
Bejing-based doctor Howard Bernstein has not seen a situation so dire in the three decades he has been practicing medicine.
“The hospital is just overwhelmed from top to bottom,” Bernstein told Reuters at the end of a “stressful” shift at Beijing United Family Hospital.

Why did they need IVs? I would think they would need oxygen and respiratory meds, but unless they cannot drink, , running IV fluids is a waste of time.

There are lots and lots and lots of video’s coming out of China. I watched long video yesterday depicting what are horror tales of a sick public of tens of thousands in many different cities that are desperately seeking medical attention that has totally overwhelmed the system.
My few sentences do not begin to describe the catastrophe currently in progress.
We think in terms of a LA or New York as large cities with big problems. New York and LA are small compared to a Chinese city with 33 million people that have been suffering and sick but completely locked down. Suddenly they are released and immediately seek medical relief.
As an aside, very well noted, many died under lock down. The vans are literally lined up at the crematoriums. Scheduling may take as long as five weeks. There were stories told of corruption and paying thousands to jump the line for the earliest possible cremation.
My thought is to rejoice because the problems are laid at the feet of local and CCP that is totally unable to solve them. There may be revolt.

I have no clue. However IV’s are the widely provided treatment. There were patients all over, in beds, in hallways, outside in down jackets in chairs and some kind of chaise lounges and yes, in automobiles in parking lots. Patients are lined up in endless lines at the “Fever Centers”

it would be more useful to send you and the rest of the anti-vaxxer conspircy crowd to China so you guys can explain to the Chinese how COVID is just a scam perpetrated by Bill Gates and the World Economic Forum. I call BS. This is some kind of scam, the same as it was in late 2019 / early 2020. None of this actually happened anywhere, and the media played along with it trying to tell us that it did happen and that we needed to be locked down and wear masks. Don’t let them play you again, give you a vaccine, or make you wear a mask. I didn’t and I won’t. Yeah, the virus thing is out there, but it’s not killing everyone. It seems the “vaccine” is more dangerous. We’ve all had the Wuhan virus, and it was nothing more than a cold for most people, and even those with “long COVID” who got it in 2020 or 2021 seem to be recovered by now from my anecdotal evidence.
