I wrote elsewhere about my observation... that alleged conservatives - full of justifiable anger over 2020, the pandemic, the shots, and other nonsense - have failed to realize that you can concurrently hate the Russian government and their declaration of war on a sovereign nation AND consider the Ukraine the victim but not want our government to send them a dime or weapons or soldiers.

It is perfectly easy and legitimate to hold these views simultaneously. I pondered, why is it so hard to believe this to be impossible?

Then I recalled, I read that during the Cold War, some conservatives privately envied the Soviets' ability to suppress dissent. I can't find any documentation nowadays. I'm an empiricist, so I thought maybe it was just conjecture.

However, reading the stunning support by some FReepers for Russia and her "defense of traditional values" despite silence on the execution of political opponents and keeping divorce and abortion legal (and more prevalent than in America), I realized my error...it's not hard for them to believe - they simply gave up on America and have adopted Russia and her tactics to be on the "winning team."

You are so smart! It has nothing to do with fomenting a violent Revolution and overthrowing a democracy. It has nothing to do with killing disenfranchised voters and violating international agreements. It especially has nothing to do with Rand Report Strategic Plans to destabilize Russia using Ukraine. Unfortunately they’ve taken their fear/ hatred of the left and globalism, and channeled it into a belief that Russia is an opponent of both.

It’s not helping that Biden is president, and they view him (rightfully so) on the side of globalists and leftists.

They refuse to recognize the United States has legitimate security concerns in Europe, whether the president is Trump or a tool like Biden.

Also, how naive are they to not realize Russia, China, Iran, Syria and North Korea are working on their own “New World Order” in which the United States is defeated or severely set back?

What kind of world do they think Putin and Xi have planned, and how could their authoritarian help possibly support “traditional conservative values”?

China, for God’s sake, is godless communism. Neither country would ever allow Freedoms of Speech, Press, Association. Nor will they allow gun ownership. China of course will stamp out religion. Both countries are ruthlessly corrupt.

So there is no way an infatuation with Putin can lead to anything but disaster.
