San Francisco has more than 7,700 homeless residents and pours $160 million annually into permanent housing programs for them. Residents complain of open-air drug use, frequent car break-ins, theft, public defecation and harassment.

Our national obsession with treating these animals as if they're just poor, underprivileged children is beyond stupid.

They've chosen to become addicts and that's the life they live. And stupid liberals are perpetuating the problem by enabling this criminal activity.

Drugs are a bane to civilization and must be outlawed. But of course, that goes against the agenda of fools (libertarians) and totalitarians (the globalists who are orchestrating our collapse for their personal aggrandizement).

Many are drug addicts and mentally unstable, so having these safe places is better than institutions??????

So you want them to continue as they are? Not getting the help they need?
IF they refuse the help “in an institution” taxpayers should pay for places to sleep for them?

They’re NOT “homeless”. 80%+ are MENTALLY-ILL and need insitutionalizing, The others are drug addicts, who need treatment, and the few valid homeless, need real help.

Well put.
Why should taxpayers pay for them to continue to use drugs in a “safe way”?

A billion from Gates, Buffett, Musk and others solves the problem. Build a Haven for Hope community which acts like a commune. You go there, live there, get treatment and work there. Produce something useful like vegetables, fruit or other products that bring in revenue to keep the place self sustainable. Teach people how to function.

What infuriates me more is these homeless drug addicts are given priority over everyone else.

What about the rest of us who are trying to live our lives as best we can, go to work, take care of our kids, go about our daily business and keep our lives and living spaces orderly?

Why should be be expected to tolerate aggressive homeless all over our parks, needles in our children’s playgrounds and feces on our public sidewalks?

What about us? (as we are forced to pay for it all and suffer the consequences - as the problems continue to expand).

20K a piece for each individual. But in reality less than 5K goes to each. Administrative costs for directors and administrators, a dozen paid workers and over 40 volunteers.

Only 7,700? Heck, you walk around San Francisco, you’d think there were 77,000!

I agree.

Jon of the Jon & Ken radio show in Los Angeles cover this issue almost every hour of their show.

They often interview former do-gooders who have worked with homeless for 30+ years who describe the futility of it all - very very few accept any/all help that is offered, and don’t want to go into either treatment facilities or homeless shelters b/c they can’t smoke and do drugs there, they have to follow rules. The mentally ill are a different issue and cannot be locked up - at least for very long until they are released back onto the streets.

Jon’s suggestion is to put them in the abandoned air base out in the desert and offer up every service imaginable, drug counseling, mental illness, job counseling - there are PLENTY of bleeding hearts in this area whose main concern in the “homeless” - let them help all they want - but they will be made to stay there until they prove they can reenter society in civil manner.

Having to live in the midst of this, being accosted and screamed at - sexually and racially - by homeless has gotten on my last nerve and my sympathy for this has run dry.

When people engage in stupidity there SHOULD be consequences. How else will they learn that stupidity is very painful?

There are 7,700 on Mission Street alone.

I recently rode bikes through there with family that live in the area - I was almost overcome by the smell of urine when we passed through. I asked my son-in-law to never take that route again.

The city announced plans to build the sleeping site next to an existing soup kitchen in 2020 and promised security and trash pickup along with other city services it said would make the site safer than existing homeless encampments.”Existing homeless encampments”

The fact that “homeless encampments” are considered reasonable or acceptable in the U.S. is the evidence of the mental illness that is liberalism.

the site has been plagued with public urination, threats of violence against residents and a host of issues for business owners, some of whom have left or are considering relocating.

Undoubtedly Trump’s/MAGA’s/White Supremacist’s fault.

I agree with you, but way too many of these homeless are Veterans. Female Veterans are now swelling the ranks of the homeless. The number of young women these days with PTSD in my Women’s Clinic at the VA is just heartbreaking!

So, yes. We have a LOT of problems to solve and not a single Congress Critter will do ANY of the heavy lifting. :(

And apartment building owner wondering they have a huge vacancy rate; they do hope that electing the next bunch of Democrats to office will fix the problem.

One of the guests on Jon & Ken’s show - who has worked with homeless for 40 years - actually started checking the status when homeless claimed to be veterans - and found that the vast majority of them were lying, saying they were veterans to get sympathy, money, etc.

Not to say there aren’t veterans on the street suffering terribly, but they need to be vetted as actual veterans and not mentally ill and/or drug addicts (who also need help).

No doubt the VA has treated our veterans horribly.

My daughter’s friend is in her last year of medical school - her speciality is treating veterans with PTSD b/c two of her brothers came back from the ME with PTSD and brain damage from IED’s, one of whom is terribly mentally disabled, to the point where he can no longer work. Fortunately, his family has taken him in otherwise he, too might be on the streets.

I am grateful EVERY DAY that I served during peaceful times. I was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield/Storm when we went into Kuwait, but it was over so quickly thanks to ‘Stormin’ Norman’ that I stayed state-side for those three years.

I just want to take those young women Vets home with me whenever I see them. But, the fact that they are seeking help leads me to believe that they have family that care, too.
