You do have a number of countries giving as much or more as a percent of GDP.

The one that jumps out as low is Germany.

That’s just aid dispatched to Ukraine. When refugee resettlement aid is included, the % shift dramatically.

https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/

In this chart, the US is #29 in terms of the % of GDP committed to helping Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees abroad. And that is as it should be, given that the US spends a huge amount on military equipment and personnel to defend Europe.

Absolutely.
There are millions of ukrainian refugees (moms with their lil children) across all Europe.

Generally speaking the narrative saying that the USA Is alone in spending for Ukraine is now debunked. The European effort is considerable.

Factor in that the EU has been willing to slit their own throats over Russian energy, paying a fortune above their normal costs for suffering.

[Factor in that the EU has been willing to slit their own throats over Russian energy, paying a fortune above their normal costs for suffering.]

Actually, they slit their own throats by purchasing gas from Russia in the first place. The Trans-Siberian pipeline should never have been built with European help. Reagan got into a tiff with Thatcher over this. Reagan has been proven right.

https://ecfr.eu/article/the-nord-stream-2-dispute-and-the-transatlantic-alliance/

And Trump did his best to kibosh Nordstream 2. The European set up a dummy company so their megacorps could sell to it and have it sell to the Nordstream 2 project, without the megacorps themselves being subject to Nordstream 2 sanctions Trump set up. Trump pierced the corporate veil and went after the megacorp suppliers to the dummy company. So Nordstream 2 came to a complete halt. Then Biden came to office and undid the Nordstream 2 sanctions.

This is only one part of the picture and does not tell the entire story. Romania is not on this list while they are a key hub for humanitarian aid and transit point for military hardware going to Ukraine. Their contribution is vital to helping Ukraine, no matter the size of their financial support..

Turkey is at the front of Ukraine shipping grain and blocking Russian exports. They are enforcing the oil sanctions for the US and EU on Russian oil out of the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

Also, it shows that the countries that know they are the next dominoes Putin wants to fall are giving a higher percentage of their GDP, military budgets and weaponry than others. Estonia has already given Ukraine 1/3 of its defense budget so far.

It’s still a lot of money, particularly when you compare it to other expenditures as a function of GDP. The total economic impact of cancer in the US is something like 1.73% of GDP. Total R&D spending in the US is something like 3.4-3.5% of GDP.

As a person who lives in Poland, I think the USA and the United kingdom contribute a lot. We get the refugees and that is not only natural but is our duty.

The USA has risen heavily in esteem over the past 8 months.

Poland has taken in far more refugees than France or Germany and sill spends a bigger % of GDP on military aid to Ukriane than either France or Germany. If Trump were President and Putin had started his war anyway, uou know he’d have harsh words for France and Germany over their levels of aid, unlike the see nothing say nothing Biden.

“And yet the EU still sanctions Poland for not taking in Muslims”

AND the EU continues to try to harass Poland over its legal and Constitutional methods to try to eliminate the holdover communists in its judiciary!!!!!
