The Democrat-led Congress is giving a parting gift to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as her long tenure as the party’s leader in the lower chamber comes to an end.
The 2023 omnibus spending bill contains a provision that renames a federal building in California after the 82-year-old congresswoman.
Republican Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina pointed out that the outgoing speaker was so honored in a Tuesday tweet.
“$65 million in two programs for Senator Leahy, and a federal building named for Nancy Pelosi,” he said, referring to Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont.
“Swamp gonna Swamp,” Bishop said.
The provision that renames the San Francisco Federal Building the “Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building” is tucked 610 pages deep in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill — which clocks in at a whopping 4,155 pages in total.
The building currently contains office space for five different federal agencies as well as Pelosi’s district offices.
Pelosi herself will have the opportunity to sign off on naming a federal building in her honor when the House takes up the omnibus bill. She’ll no longer be the speaker when the new Republican majority takes effect, although she’s indicated she’s not retiring from Congress.
Democrats such as Lyndon B. Johnson and Franklin D. Roosevelt can point to the Great Society and New Deal programs as their political accomplishments. (Although most conservatives don’t see these big government programs as accomplishments, obviously.)
What is Nancy Pelosi’s signature legislative accomplishment? The 2008 federal bailout of Wall Street? The so-called Affordable Care Act? President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda?

*Something* should be named after Stedman Pelosi too, for tolerating life as her escort for all these years. How about the hammer throwing contest?
Not reported in all of the outrage coverage of this newest spending bill is how much of the 1.7 TRILLION with a T won’t even happen until long after this fiscal year is over. So future fiscal budgets are already starting behind the 8-ball.< P>
I hope Nancy Pelosi is buried next to Jane Fonda so people won’t have to walk too far to pay liquid respect to those two. Next to each other would be ideal.
“a federal building named for Nancy Pelosi”
Satanic Temple?
The thought the Pelosiyy building was finished. There was a picture of it here yesterday.
That corrupt, dried out piece of slug meat sure thinks a lot of herself. Pity for her that few others agree.
> a federal building named for Nancy Pelosi <
I just hate this. No government building, navy ship, etc. should be named after a living person. We are not a monarchy with a royal class.
Oops. Of course we are a monarchy, with revolving Deep State monarchs. And we do have a royal class. I’m still amazed how citizen Trump was able to get into the palace that one time.
I’m not at all surprised that a building would be named after Nancy Pelosi. I despised her, but objectively, one must admit, Nancy has done much to further the Dem/Socialist/Prog. agenda. Perhaps more than anyone since Ted Kennedy.
That comparisson is both sincere and ominious in how our nation has been changed forever due to the devilment, vanity and megalomania of these two people.
Anyway, she has a long way to go before she catches up with all the buildings named after Robert(KKK)Byrd.
That building is as UGLY as she is. I bet the inside is just as ugly. The building looks to be slumping and needs some Botox stat!!!!
I hope they carve in stone the name of the building: “The Speak Whore Nancy Pelosi Federal Building”.
The building sags like she does.
Why does it cost $65 million to rename a building?
The general problem is that far too many things are named after politicians who contribute little to society. It’s the only job where if you hang around long enough you get a monument to your name.
We should name our prominent sites after inventors, scientists, generals, and charity leaders. People who do actualmuseful things.
A million for the engravers, $63M for me. And maybe throw the Big Guy a few bones.
So, that means Senator Charles E. Grassley (Age 89!!!!)
is likely to expect a monument named after him too.
Maybe it’s time to start issuing Websites instead.
Leaves less of a global footprint.

All those documents and addresses with the previous names must be re issued.
And there will need to be mass hypnosis events to reset the brains of the entire population.
Nothing should be named after a living person. Post Offices shouldn’t be named after anyone. City or Town names, or if more than 1, street names.
Perhaps a drinking fountain or beer stand between the two!
