Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday declared a state of emergency for the entirety of New York in preparation for the massive storm that’s forecast to wallop the northeast over the holiday weekend.

The measure will go into effect at 6 a.m. Friday when Winter Storm Elliott — dubbed a “once-in-a-generation” weather event by the National Weather Service — is expected to bear down on the area.

“With Mother Nature throwing everything she has at us this weekend, I encourage New Yorkers who are considering traveling for the holidays to do so before Friday or after Sunday to stay safe,” Hochul said in a statement.

If there’s an illegal alien invasion at the same time as a winter storm emergency and a Covid lockdown and mask emergency, how should New Yorkers respond?

How about duck and cover under a school desk like the atomic war scares to children in the 1950s and early 60s.

This is introduction only but there is a 9 min.plus film available.

They’ll do almost anything to panic people these days.

"Bomb Cyclone"

Sounds like the latest concoction from Dairy Queen.

It’s what we in northern NH call “good snowmobiling”, “good skiing” and “good snowshoeing”.

The storm should be released with no bail.

I’m in rural middle Tennessee

Zero
20 mph winds
40 gusts

Snowing sideways

Cold as anywhere I’ve been since the 40min lift back bowl of Vail in a sweater and stretch black nylon Jean Claude Killey bibs when a blizzard poured over the peak and I thought I would freeze to death

It went from 40s sunny to sub zero windy that day in minutes

I skied right to the ski patrol cabin where they took me in pronto thankfully and loaned me parka to get down the mountain

This is like that

Once in 15-20 years cold and wind for here

Equal to Cut Bank right now
Colder than Chama

I thought they had started to name domestic storms like they
do hurricanes. I couldn’t find that now, so maybe I was wrong.

For about seven years, they couldn’t talk about anything out
here in the way of weather, without pumping El Nina or El Nino.

It was nauseating.

Dairy Queen... good one...

Currently 1F with gusts to 25mph in Memphis and temperature still dropping. Coldest temperature in 33 years.

Aw, that’s nothing.

Accu-Panic has an article up that suggests “Cold weather could make it rain reptiles in Florida”.

I never heard rain like this. There’s one of those ubiquitous sidewalk sheds outside my window and it’s raining INSIDE the sidewalk shed.

The storm should be released with no bail.

Lock it up in a cell with a tornado named Bubba.

Hurricane Hazel, Blizzard of '78, Ice Storm of '98, etc. What a bunch of puss***.

Right; I had a coworker yesterday describe how she’d be in late because she had to prepare for the storm. We’re in NJ about a dozen miles west of NYC, and there isn’t much happening here at all - and I didn’t see much happening here in any of the forecasts, either.

One way to panic people is by reporting weather conditions thousands of miles away on local news, and now they report how many millions of people will be impacted (pure guesswork).

The sky is falling down!
