SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (TND) — Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, is convinced he would win a second term in the U.S. Senate if he runs again, despite failing twice at becoming the Republican nominee for president and being known for breaking from his GOP colleagues during certain standoffs with Democrats.
"I’m convinced that if I run, I win," Romney told Politico while discussing his potential bid for reelection that would come up in 2024.
Probably the most noteworthy divergence Romney has taken from his own party was when he voted in favor of impeaching former President Donald Trump, becoming the first U.S. lawmaker in history to vote in favor of ousting a president belonging to their own party.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is urging Romney to run again, according to Politico.
"He's been a really important part of our conference," McConnell said, according to the outlet. "People respect his intelligence, his assessment of the era we find ourselves in. And I think his running for reelection would be very important. It’s important for the Republican Party and the country."

Wow. I guess Mitt hasn’t checked with Utah voters because they hate him. They believe he is a carpet bagger who lied to them when he ran last time about his views on Trump and Conservative issues. I believe they will court Democrats like he helped Evan McMullin do and as Murkowski in AK did when she just ran saying she would vote with Biden. They should be removed from the party. I think it is official now: Mitch McCo9nnel runs the party and he is running as a Democrat.
No two bigger frauds than these two.

Chaffetz was going to run for Gov. a few years ago. I believe the Mormon hierarchy wanted Mitt because he is open borders and has lots of money so he’s top of the church’s food chain. Heard he sold his house in Utah so not sure where he is claiming home is right now.

There should be a documentary made about how the conservative media and donors wanted him to be the nominee in 2012, even before the candidates were announced. There was no reason for it.

His constituency hates him in Utah. Democrats there love him so maybe more monkey business from Mitch and Co. will get Willard in like he did with Lisa Murkowski.

He probably will sneak back into the Senate, mainly because most people’s minds are going to be focused on who will be nominated for the presidency. Mitt has kept a rather low profile for the last year or two. It will be hard for him not to remain in politics in some manner.
Ann is very likely pleased to have him out of the house anyway.
