A transgender rights bill to be voted on this week has sparked bitter divisions within Spain's ruling left-wing coalition, pitting its powerful feminist lobby against LGBTQ equality campaigners.

The draft bill effectively simplifies the procedure for changing gender on a person's national identity card, allowing them to request the change based on a simple statement.

...

It would make Spain one of the few countries in the world to allow transgender people to change their status with a simple declaration.

Activists from the Alliance Against the Erasure of Women fear that the law will be open to abuse and cause a significant erosion of women's rights, allowing men who self-identify as women "to compete in women's sport.. to enter domestic violence refuges or access women's prisons", said spokeswoman Lola Venegas.

If Franco was as brutal a monster as people call him he would have wiped all these people out yet somehow they were all still around and quickly came out of the woodwork after he was gone and Spain is one of the more leftwing places in the world.

Didn’t Scotland just pass a similar law?

I attended the University of Salamanca in 1978. Franco had only been dead 3 years. I was already fluent in Spanish, and felt very safe. In the summer anyone with the means escaped the heat, so some of those that remained were a little rough.

Decades later it became ‘legal’ to do drugs in city parks and the like. Do not know if that is still the case. Leftism ruins everything it touches.

Thank you for the post. All of my mothers family are in Spain. It’s an atrocity what socialism is doing to western culture. Socialists are using these alphabet organizations to destroy us.

“ Activists from the Alliance Against the Erasure of Women fear that the law will be open to abuse and cause a significant erosion of women’s rights, allowing men who self-identify as women “to compete in women’s sport.. to enter domestic violence refuges or access women’s prisons”, said spokeswoman Lola Venegas.

But she shrugged off suggestions the feminist movement was divided over the draft law.

“What’s happening is that a Trojan horse is being introduced into the feminist movement trying to set an anti-feminist agenda. It’s not division, it’s entryism,” she said.”

“Activists from the Alliance Against the Erasure of Women”

Sorry girls. You HAVE been erased. There aren’t women anymore. If you were a woman you are now “bleeding people” or “birthing people” or “TERFS.” Real women beat you at sports, beat you are “woman of the year” beat you at beauty contests. Sure these new women can’t fulfill the miracle of child birth BUT HER. Men can get pregnant to. So men are better at giving birth than women now too.

Embrace the suck.

“a Trojan horse is being introduced into the feminist movement trying to set an anti-feminist agenda...”

Except the “anti-feminist agenda” is the one that says there are real biological differences between men and women, and that women need special protections because they can’t compete with men on an equal playing field in every circumstance. Because what the trannies are pushing is 100% in line with what the 3rd wave feminists were pushing 20 years ago. Some feminists just don’t like the consequences now that they are getting what they campaigned for.

I think so, yes.

Scotland must be proud to have taken the Gold in this latest round of Wokeness Olympics. Spain seems close to winning Silver. I wonder who'll take the Bronze?

Agree. And it seems that ‘ Alliance Against the Erasure of Women’ pretty much said the same thing - which was in the post.

The inexorable walk towards Leftism is the characteristic trait of all representative governments. In the grand scheme of human history, they are still very new forms of government. Some may survive great lengths of time (like Rome), many others may collapse under there own decadence. It’s not hard to imagine some of these nations and national “unions” going under in the next several centuries.
