A large earthquake rattled Northern California early on Tuesday morning.
The 6.4 earthquake was centered about 7.5 miles west-southwest of Ferndale, California, in Humboldt County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Following the initial earthquake, two aftershocks of 4.6 magnitude and 3.1 magnitude were recorded.
No injuries or damage have been reported. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said there is no risk of a tsunami following the quake.

Couple of months back there was a small earthquake in CA. I had heard about it and knew it was a nothing-burger.
Got home and the TV was on to a national news show. The script on the bottom was scrolling “earthquake in California”, and they were showing the damage to the Nimitz freeway from the San Francisco earthquake of 1989.
Talk about falsely reporting news!
Shook pretty good here (Hayfork) for about 30 seconds, at first I just thought it was George (one of my dogs) kicking the side of the bed in his sleep.
My wife and I were in bed reading when it hit, I was about to tell George to wake up when it got stronger and I realized it was an earthquake.
Inspected the house and out buildings this morning and don’t see any obvious structural damage, all seems to be good here.
We’ve had several small quakes offshore here the last few years but this is the first one to actually make the house jiggle like it did this time.
ALL GOOD HERE, just another day in California.
