China is scrambling to deal with a surge in coronavirus cases after Beijing's retreat from a zero-COVID policy. With much of the population unvaccinated, there are fears of mutations, high fatalities, and economic upset.
Chinese cities on Tuesday pushed ahead with plans to expand hospital bed capacity and build new clinics amid fears about the virus running wild through the population.
Beijing's abrupt decision to relax stringent COVID-19 measures has raised fears that widespread infections among a largely unvaccinated population could lead to between a million and 2.1 million deaths.
What's the situation at present?
Authorities are expanding intensive care units and, with a view to stopping the spread of the disease in hospitals, building fever screening clinics.
Cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Wenzhou have reported adding hundreds of such clinics in the past week alone, having converted some of them from sports facilities.
After widespread protests against China's strict zero-COVID policy, officials recently abandoned the strategy on a national basis, moving away from lockdowns and mass testing. Several local governments have taken the step of encouraging people with mild coronavirus infections to go to work.
Some experts estimate that some 60% of China's 1.4 billion people — about 10% of the global population — could be infected with COVID-19 in the coming months. There are fears the virus could spread more widely during next month's Lunar New Year holiday when many people travel.

The upper estimate of 2.1 million deaths would be only a 0.25% mortality rate.
China’s relaxation of “Zero COVID” just means that now they’re reporting the cases that have been there all along.
Two questions: how did China get to 1.4 billion with a one child policy for generations. Secondly, are the numbers in this article less than 1-2 percent? The flu is the flu.
That is a lot of people eating bats. /s
Seems some of this doom porn is coming from Dr Eric Fingle Dingle, who spends a lot of time on Twitter promoting doom porn
What would be really interesting is if China all of a sudden started prescribing to people a regime of Ivermectin, Vitamin D and/or HCQ and Zinc.
Off the shelf remedies given to hundreds of millions would be a great test to see how the existing remedies work.
The PCR test cannot determine Covid from the flu, the flu and covid are the same. So they cannot say Covid has increased, there is no way to detect Covid.’
In other words, it’s the flu

In order to know if they work, you would have to do a controlled test where millions were given them and millions were not.
And away we go. Round 2
Maybe Chinese people are just really unhealthy in general
Also, which is true? That China has done an exemplary job handling Covid and is a example to the world - as stated by the left, or that China is on the verge of a huge outbreak with millions of deaths?
Bill Gates is pissed, because his posse is about to unleash a worse scamdemic on the world. They’re stealing his thunder.
So Deutsche Welle says currently 5,242 are dead from the three-year long pandemic. Odd, eh?
The article continues: "While those figures are relatively low by global standards, it's thought that the actual numbers are far higher. Health authorities in China count only those who died directly from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, excluding deaths blamed on underlying conditions that raise the risk of serious illness."
This is essentially an admission of the game. Dying from SARS CoV2 is a small risk, worldwide currently coming to about 0.085 percent mortality rate.
BUT ---- adding in other deaths makes the numbers larger. Indeed, adding in other deaths makes the numbers larger, of course.
So checking some official sources, China has16,348 as of 20 December 2022

In their "COVID-10 Projections" page, IHMA states "After December 16, 2022, IHME will pause its COVID-19 modeling for the foreseeable future."

See how this works? The DW headline reports "China's soaring COVID numbers raise global fears," while it is the headlines which actually raise global fears.
Fear! Front page fear! Headline fear! Because they don't expect you to carefully read the entire article. Because they don't expect you to check secondary sources. Or as Gates-sponsored IMJE shows, their "fear": is so great that they are pausing their projections, consistently wrong for almost three years now.
Hmm. I thought EVERYONE in China got the Vax. Will they and the elites be the last ones standing in the bio-weapon war?
I imagine the Feral “judgeys” will be instructing the Red Chinese to start loading people on airliners and sending them to the U.S. for their safety. Kind of like a Chinese/Feral Court Noah’s Ark program.
More likely — a rapidly aging population, weakened further by lockdowns and unhealthy masking, is beginning to die off, with the cause of death misidentified as COVID the same way it has been here (junk tests, faulty causation). Much has been posted about this nonsense on FR.
Now the world is afraid of getting sick.
If pneumonia is the old man's friend, the CCP might be creating friends for a lot of old and generally weak people.
It's an automatic boost to per capita GDP and a quick reduction in healthcare costs for the elderly and sickly.
Jeez… it looks like the German media is getting in on this latest ChiCom scare tactics campaign. It’s NOT GONNA WORK, folks.
Perhaps if you were running a so called “Gold Standard” trial like Dr. Fauci believes in you would be correct.
However, if we are to believe China is overrun with Covid cases and people are dying all over the place and the majority are refusing the vaccines and their dubious effectiveness.
If very shortly after the introduction of the off the shelf remedies which people would more likely take versus the vaccines, the number of cases and deaths dropped to near nothing, then it would be proper to conclude the remedies worked.
