Washington — The House Jan. 6 committee is holding what is expected to be its final meeting on Monday, when members will vote on formally adopting the committee's final report and possible criminal referrals to the Justice Department.
The proceedings mark the culmination of the panel's nearly 18-month-long investigation into the attack on the U.S. Capitol, which featured testimony from dozens of witnesses and a series of high-profile hearings that examined the assault and former President Donald Trump's role in stoking his supporters to storm the building.
The committee is expected to make criminal referrals to the Justice Department for potential prosecution, although the members have not confirmed who they will refer.
Referrals by Congress are solely recommendations, and the Justice Department is under no obligation to bring charges against those referred for prosecution. Still, the committee's referrals could increase political pressure on the department to act, and lawmakers could unveil new evidence in their final report that federal prosecutors have not yet accessed.

Exactly why it was foolish to hold his rally in DC. I could name 20 cities that made more sense for a rally, most of them in the South, but not all. If he’d held it in Wyoming, there would have been no antifa riots, no Dem manipulation, no DC jail holding Trump supporters in solitary confinement, no deep state shenanigans, no phones talk about “insurrection”. Trump made a BIG MISTAKE

Trump should have told them to switch locations or cancel altogether. You didn’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind was blowing - and that having a rally in DC was giving the folks who run DC - Dems, Deep State, and antifa - an opportunity to stage a phoney insurection and take Trump and his followers down
Women for Trump organization are selfish idiots for not realizing this, IMO - but in the end Trump could have forced them to relocate in the name of safety and common sense
It should have been held in Tulsa , OK, or Cheyenne Wyo, or some other town not run by Dems, Deep State, and antifa

In an ideal world you’d be right. But reality is different. DC is capital of the deep state and the Dems, totally controlled by passionate haters of MAGA and conservatives. That’s why no MAGA person would want to be tried by a DC jury, even though it’s technically “the nations capital”
The only mistake he made was believing that somewhere in the halls of Congress were men and women of Courage. The American people made a mistake too: by not showing up in the tens of millions. The DOJ won’t indict Trump, because they know that an actual insurrection will look quite different than the January 6th riots.
If Trump had held his rally in Boise or Chattanooga or Rush’s home town in Indiana we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Instead, he held it on Nancy Pelosi’s turf, where there was a history of antifa being allowed to terrorize Trump rallies - starting with his inaugural rally in Jan 2017.
This was an unforced error by Trump. And a big one.

The deep state LOVED Trumps decision to hold his rally on their home turf. It gave them the perfect opportunity to frame him and they took it.
