No justification for military buildup by Japan: China

Beijing accuses Japan’s ‘right-wing forces of colluding with certain countries to create tensions’ in South China Sea

Strongly opposing what it called “military buildup” by Japan, China has said Tokyo has no justification for “creating hype on so-called China threat.”

“Japan’s new defense policy documents disregard facts, deviate from its commitments on relations with China and the common understandings between the two countries, and smear China’s defense and normal military activities. China firmly rejects this,” Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, has said on Friday.

He was responding to Japan’s move to adopt an updated version of its national security strategy that allows its armed forces to acquire what it called “counter-strike capability” in a major departure from its post-World War II pacifist posture.

If China says Japan has no reason for a military buildup, then Japan probably DOES have a reason for a military buildup

Japan has no reason for a military buildup, but China has plenty of reason for a military buildup.

Sounds like a "tails I win, heads you lose" argument.

The Chinese know the quality of a Japanese soldier is 10 to 1 better than a Chicom drone.

The ramp up by Japan really hit high gear after Trump met with them. South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, and Japan felt the heat from China. Trump explained that they could not expect the United States alone to save them. When Biden hit office, it became obvious that the US had been compromised.

I think the only reality that has kept peace in the Pacific was the failure of Putin to secure Ukraine quickly. This made China re-evaluate its capabilities. They will learn from it, but it bought time for Japan to re-arm.

So...what exactly is China’s justification for its own military buildup?

Not just that, but also the demonstrated western resolve to resist aggression, including in particular the western willingness to absorb economic pain. For all our dependence on China, China is even more dependent on the rest of the world because its economy is so export-dependent. A collapse of exports would cause massive economic and social disruption, and that's not something the CCP wants.

The best way to deter Chinese aggression is to continue to deter Russian aggression. Especially given that the military assets being expended in Ukraine (ground armaments) and not the same ones -- air and naval -- that would be the primary assets used against China.

That’s kind of hard when the Chinese own the POTUS. No, in this case deterring Russia doesn’t matter. Demonstrating that Russian weapons system and strategy are wanting, buys time. Chinese will attack when the feel confident of the outcome.

China has long term strategic goals.

1. Control of Pacific Ocean resources and domination in that theatre. This requires control of Taiwan and the submission of Japan and Korea.

2. The defeat of India as a military power.

3. Control of Australian natural resources.

4. Retaking Siberia from Russia.

5. Establishing influence around the world.

4. Retaking Siberia from Russia.

That should give the Russians warm, fuzzy feelings. 🤪😁

Makes China nervous because, unlike the Chinese military equipment, Japan’s will actually work.

It’s the old “Don’t Run, We are your friends” routine from Mars Attacks.
What’s China’s justification for their own massive military and naval buildup that has gone on for years.

China has the take over of the pacific mapped out. Nuke key air and naval bases in Taiwan, Philippines, Japan, Okinawa, and Guam, and they own the pacific. They’re going to use the same tactic Japan did in ‘41 and neutralize the US Navy in 1 action. With Biden asleep at the reins, they have 2 years to finish us off.
