Energy Dept vacates 1950s decision revoking security clearance for ‘father of the atomic bomb’ J. Robert Oppenheimer

The Biden administration is vacating a decades-old decision to revoke the security clearance of World War II-era scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is known today as the “father of the atomic bomb.”

In a written statement first shared with The Hill, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said the 1954 decision barring Oppenheimer’s clearance went through a “flawed process” and noted that there was evidence of bias.

“In 1954, the Atomic Energy Commission revoked Dr. Oppenheimer’s security clearance through a flawed process that violated the Commission’s own regulations. As time has passed, more evidence has come to light of the bias and unfairness of the process that Dr. Oppenheimer was subjected to while the evidence of his loyalty and love of country have only been further affirmed,” Granholm said.

“I am pleased to announce the Department of Energy has vacated the Atomic Energy Commission’s 1954 decision In the Matter of J. Robert Oppenheimer,” she added.

Oppenheimer directed the Manhattan Project’s Los Alamos National Laboratory when the atomic bomb was developed during World War II.

His security clearance was later revoked by the Atomic Energy Commission, a federal agency that predated the Energy Department, with commissioners arguing he was a “security risk” amid allegations that he was disloyal to the U.S.

Oppenheimer’s past connections with communism and communists also played a role. His hearing before the commission in 1954 occurred during the Red Scare, a time where U.S. politics was dominated by anti-communist sentiment.

I am sure the people at that time remember the “Red Terror” when the Bolsheviks” took over Russia. The spying was done by some of the people working on our atomic projects, Klaus Fuchs, Greenglass, Harry Gold, the Rosenberg’s,...supposedly they only wanted to make sure somebody developed an atomic weapon before the Germans did. They claimed to be afraid the Germans would truly exterminate all Jews if they won the war.
The current administration has no concept of the historical basis of past actions and interprets past history through blind ideological filters. Hence, a ludicrous action by that braindead Granholm humanoid. It makes sense to those who believe in virtual history and virtual life.

Can’t remember who said this but it’s far closer to the truth than a lie:

“the 20th century produced 2 truly great Americans; Regan and McCarthy; McCarthy delayed the leftists assault on the west long enough to bring on Reagan who collapsed the USSR”.

McCarthy is also likely the most maligned and slandered man in US history, even more than Trump although he was slandered enough to make the comparison stick. Finally I feel there is a distinct possibility McCarthy was murdered.

I knew it took a long time to get clearances completed but, they outdid themselves this time.
I hated it when someone would come up to me and say, I used you as a reference for my clearance. I remember when my boss had an interview, and they couldn’t get past why he didn’t say that he used Jeff (full name Jeffrey), as another name that he went by. I should’ve taken that as a sign that the F b eye was a little suspect. That was 20 years ago.

Frank Church was an intel officer in WWII. He was a national hero in reigning in the utter lawlessness of the FBI and CIA. They overcame it, but he tried to return them to being under control.

Number 1 on that list for every federal agency is say or do anything to distract the public from the ongoing destruction of our country.

He was a good Communist so of course he'd get a "pardon" from the guy who may soon be in need of a pardon himself. That is if Hunter testifies and tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Not very likely...to be sure.

Energy Dept vacates 1950s decision revoking security clearance for ‘father of the atomic bomb’ J. Robert Oppenheimer, who has been dead for more than 55 years????

(If we're being ruled by decisions that come from ouija boards, that explains a lot.)

They should revoke the security clearances of all those who are disloyal NOW. That would leave the entire Biden regime without a clearance, and most likely 3/4 of the house and senate.

I recall an interview with the late Soviet defector Vasili Mitrokhin in which he described Robert Oppenheimer as a Soviet agent, but that the claim was edited out of his published work as too provocative. Mitrokhin's typewritten notes from his reading of the KGB archives are now on deposit with Churchill College at Cambridge in Britain, with portions though still classified and unavailable even to qualified researchers.

Due to limited information and differences in spy craft and terminology between the Soviet Union and the US, the distinction between source and controlled agent can be murky and confusing. Mitrokhin's account was to the effect that Oppenheimer knowingly provided secret information about the A bomb to a man whom he knew to be a Soviet agent. That would make Oppenheimer guilty of espionage under US law, a Soviet spy in common meaning.
