One of the most detestable aspects of DeSantis’ travel restrictions was that he used the Federal restrictions on foreign travel as a justification for his own blatantly illegal restrictions on domestic travel.

I’m sure the establishment GOP cabal looking to peddle DeSantis as a presidential contender is doing their best to scrub all these things from the internet, but you can still find video clips of him speaking to the media back on 2020 and explaining to them that he had the authority to restrict travel from other states because the U.S. government was restricting travel from places like China and Italy.

It takes a special kind of pernicious big-government globalist @sshole to stand up in public and say that U.S. citizens should be subject to the same treatment under the law as foreign nationals.

I think it’s already been established that DeSantis never “blocked” anyone from entering Florida. He required those arriving from airports in New York and New Jersey, and maybe a couple other states, only, to “self-quarantine” for a few days.

That’s quite mild compared to Trump’s guidelines to shutdown all “gatherings of more than 10 people” and “all discretionary travel” which would have shut all airports and airport traffic down.

So good job to DeSantis for standing up to Trump’s guidelines requesting “blatantly illegal restrictions on domestic travel” to use your words.
