The legislation creates an almost dollar-for-dollar tax credit for Kentuckians who donate to scholarship-granting educational nonprofit organizations. ...

...“It’s always been clear to the plaintiffs and their supporters that the Kentucky Constitution prohibits any attempt to divert tax dollars from our public schools and students without putting the question to voters,” Campbell said in a statement. ...“We simply can’t afford to support two different education systems — one private and one public — on the taxpayers’ dime,....."

“Section 186. All funds accruing to the school fund shall be used for the maintenance of the public schools of the Commonwealth”

Seems pretty clear. I might disagree with the results of the decision, but these judges did their job and made the right call.

“Two separate school systems”?

The number of students is unchanged.
There is no one state school system.
Are all the local school districts also separate systems?

Again, one leftist judge changes the rules for all.

Kentucky should just contract these non-public schools into one common state system.

Friedman should have a TV channel and be on 24/7. Education institutions seem to avoid him like the plague for a reason.

Thanks for the cite.

It looks like the judges followed the letter of the law as written, like it or not.

“We simply can’t afford to support two different education systems — one private and one public — on the taxpayers’ dime”

How about two smaller ones?

Oh... there has to be an “election”. I see. Yeah, need an opportunity to cheat because the schools are the commies coal bed which keeps the fire burning.

“Not that the education system bothers me so much “

They are pumping out commies. That should bother all of us.

Funniest part was when he claimed we can’t afford a public and private educational system. As if money ever stopped them before. What a crap reason.

I bought my first house in May 1966. I was 26.

Due to purchasing 2 other properties & inheriting one, I have had OVERLAPPING ownerships & have paid 89 YEARS of property taxes-—which are about 50% school costs.

I NEVER HAD ANY KIDS-—sure would like a refund
