Adults who received the updated coronavirus booster shots are better protected against severe disease than those who haven’t, cutting their risk of having to visit an emergency room or being hospitalized with covid-19 by 50 percent or more, according to new federal data.
Two reports released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention give the first detailed look at how well the updated boosters from Pfizer and Moderna protect against serious illness. But uptake of the “bivalent” boosters rolled out in September has been low among vaccine-weary Americans, with only about 14 percent of those eligible — ages 5 and older — having received an updated shot...
For people 65 and older who have received the updated booster, “there is significant added protection against severe disease and hospitalization,” Link-Gelles said. “You’re really getting in the sort of range of 70 to 80 percent extra protection on top of your monovalent or your older vaccine doses.”
But about 150 million Americans who are eligible for an updated booster have yet to receive one. That includes more than 28 million who are 65 years and older, the population at highest risk for severe covid-19, who have not had a shot in more than 11 months, she said.

After lying to us for the last almost three years on any and every thing Covid related, we’re now supposed to believe that they are telling us the truth and giving us accurate information?
An interesting headline. Here's a question -- how would one know from data that "risk" was reduced? Incidences, sure. Number of deaths, yeah, and as we see, the number of deaths is waning massively now. But risk? This is an actuarial assessment.
One notes the journalism lingo. Americans are "vaccine-wary." So tell them risk is lessened? How about no risk. Covid over three full years has a death rate of only 0.085 percent. Only 99.915 percent survived with and without the "vaccine." Weary yet? CDC will; set you straight and the Washington Post will publicize / market the product for you.

Unless and until FedGov opens up the market to efficacious therapeutics, there should be no other requirement os ANYONE.
Never had the jab either nor has the wife, our kids and grandkids. Never took a test either and may or may or have had the covid cold.

Correlation, causation.
I am not sure whether this is a factor, or not. Do people who get boosters tend to use drugs less? Be younger? Not have underlying conditions? Have better health insurance? Are they more risk averse in general? Etc. Got to weigh all the factors.
And we should believe their “data” because…?
