I predict that the first loud drumbeat will be for all tax exemption of churches uncooperative with the new official orthodoxy to be removed, or severely curtailed. They’ve been shouting for this for over a decade.

Removing tax exemptions from churches: Yes it would hurt the churches but the churches would be free to engage in the political process. In particular, you get a large audience that gathers to hear a message that can now be more political.

Note that the bolshevists would need to tax the income of the religious facilities (church, synagogue, etc) and to eliminate the charitable tax deductions for giving to the churches (and synagogues, etc.). That would p.o. lots of folks!
