US sues Arizona over shipping containers on Mexico border

PHOENIX (AP) — The U.S. government sued Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and the state Wednesday over the placement of shipping containers as a barrier on the border with Mexico, saying it is trespassing on federal lands.

The complaint filed in U.S. District Court comes three weeks before the Republican governor steps aside for Democratic Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs, who has said she opposes the construction.

Ducey told U.S. officials earlier this week that Arizona stands ready to help remove the containers, which he says were placed as a temporary barrier. But he wants the U.S. government to say when it will fill any remaining gaps in the permanent border wall as it announced it would a year ago.

The U.S. “owes it to Arizonans and all Americans to release a timeline,” he wrote in a Tuesday letter, responding to news of the pending federal complaint.

Border security was a focus of Donald Trump’s presidency and remains a key issue for Republican politicians.

The complaint by the Department of Justice asks the court that Arizona be ordered to halt placement and remove the containers in remote San Rafael Valley in easternmost Cochise County. The work placing up to 3,000 containers at a cost of $95 million is about a third complete, but protesters concerned about its impact on the environment have held up work in recent days.

Lawsuit? Discovery is going to be a bear as it will show all that the Jao Bai-din administration has failed to do to defend the United States.

I predicted this action quite a while ago.
And unfortunately the feds will win.
It was a good try...
What the states CAN do is pick up a right of way that borders the feds border and put up a wall there.
There will still be legal action, what with the states interfering with the feds constitutional right to regulate immigration.
I guess the way around that would be to ensure that the legitimate border crossing are not walled in.
Those can easily be controlled.

If the federal government can allow undocumented people to wander around its property, then it shouldn’t have a problem with legally-documented shipping containers sitting on same.

The federal government suing the state government over the state trying to keep illegal aliens out of the state/country.

Maybe the federal government wants to provide free Obama care, paid for by the legal residents of the state.

Sounds like a pretty good use of taxpayer money . . .

This is pure theatrics. The hobbit said she would remove them anyway. That will be in about three weeks.

If they want to arrest people for trespassing at the border, maybe they should start with those illegal aliens who trespassed to get into the US.

Sorry, not “maybe.” More like “definitely.”

You would be amazed what a few thousand bouncing Betty landmines would have on the amount of foot traffic sneaking over the border!

This is pure theatrics. The hobbit said she would remove them anyway. That will be in about three weeks. They're trying to avoid the bad optics. They'd rather force Ducey to do it now than have footage of them physically re-opening a huge huge hole in the border.

Back when the country was sane, and men were men, the governor would tell the Federal government and the Biden administration to go to hell.

But these are insane times, and men are no longer men.

“men are no longer men”

They are surely few and far between. Little girls can get testosterone injections with no objections. Can’t we dose up a bunch of these wimps???
