The Air Force last week successfully tested a hypersonic AGM-183A missile off the coast of southern California -- striking a target after reaching more than five times the speed of sound -- in a sign that U.S. weapons are catching up to similar Chinese and Russian capabilities.

I should think so! It was all our missile technology that Clinton sold off to the CCP for a paper sack of cash (which he then had to give back)!
The Russians didn’t need any US technology to have hypersonics, which, btw, they DEPLOYED OPERATIONAL in 2017, and we are just now developing a prototype with an announcement that is suspicious as to how successful the test was.
There is considerable talk about difficulties in resuming START treaty talks because the US wishes onsite inspection, so we can steal hypersonic tech from the Russians.
Never EVER forget that until 2020 we were entirely dependent on Russian launch vehicles to send astronauts to the ISS since the Space Shuttle was scrapped .
Vaunted US technology is just not deserved. Don’t believe our own propaganda.
We had an operational hypersonic antimissile missile and an operational hypersonic air to air missile back in the last century but Congress killed both of them because they were Reagan programs.
Disney reporters reporting all there is to know about US defense capabilities...
What a load of krap....The US has had this tech for well over a decade now....we are not “catching up” to China and Russia...
My friend you are full of bull. Our technology is world class. Our launch capacity was there but our government made some bad choices in launch vehicles. Russian launch abilities are so 1960’s.
A blessing in disguise because it gave SpaceX a big leg up
Just catching up.
Wait. What!?
LMAO.
Here’s a photo of the inside of Soyuz. Note this actually carried people to the ISS and the US had NOTHING doing that in 2019. Visualize it 2019.
1960s was vacuum tubes. Now study this carefully with only ONE SPECIFIC question in mind, and don’t digress away from it.
Do you see any evidence of vacuum tube technology?

.
No. Our adversaries are ahead of us. There was no tech transfer, other than what was found in tech journals.
“US catching up to China and Russia...”
Pretty much sums up the fall of the US from king of the hill.
This was the first successful end-to-end test after several failures — we’ve had the technologies but had not integrated them into an operational system.
On the other hand what Russians and Chinese are claiming to be their hypersonic missiles aren’t really that. It’s all marketing speak misrepresenting the actual military utility.
They are wasting money just to make headlines because right now perception of strength matters more to them than actual strength.
If you don’t have hypersonic missiles you are a pos nation. You are not a contender. ... How come Lil Kim is never bragging about his hypersonics that he does not have?
What could go wrong?
Of course the problem is the catching up aspect instead of leading, because Democrats keep tearing down the military superiority.
