I spent a portion of 2012 hunting for Boko Haram bomb-makers, and never quite understood why the US didn’t commit a US Marine Expeditionary Brigade to exterminate them. In one move, we could have stabilized Nigeria and made it a serious trade partner and ally in West Africa; and a model for other African nations to follow.

Did Boku Haram step on the Fulani tribe’s toes up there? Both groups attack Christians but they may not be each other’s friends.
Many of the high ranking officers are Fulani, the north is Muslim territory.
