- The siblings are now among 26 Black people who either lived in the neighborhood or who are descendants of former residents who are suing Portland, the city's economic and urban development agency and Legacy Emanuel Hospital for the "racist" destruction of the homes and forced displacement. (Della Williams/Fouther Family Archives and Ariel Kane via AP) A home that was a fixture of Bobby Fouther’s childhood is now a parking lot, the two-story, shingle-sided house having been demolished in the 1970s along with many other properties in a predominantly Black neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.
“Growing up there was just all about love,” Fouther said.
Fouther and his sister, Elizabeth Fouther-Branch, are now among 26 Black people who either lived in the neighborhood or are descendants of former residents and are suing Portland, the city’s economic and urban development agency and Legacy Emanuel Hospital, accusing them of the “racist” destruction of the homes and forced displacement.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Portland, shines a light on how urban improvement projects and construction of the nation’s highways often came at the cost of neighborhoods that aren’t predominantly white.
“In many cases, city and state planners purposely built through Black neighborhoods to clear so-called slums and blighted areas,” according to a 2020 report by Pew Charitable Trusts, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit public policy group.
People who were part of racial minorities were often obligated to live in those neighborhoods because of “redlining” — banks discriminating against home loan applicants based on race — and even due to laws that maintained all-white neighborhoods

A home “that was a fixture in the neighborhood where I grew up” was a “fixture”, as well, and is now a parking lot. (I lived in it.) Am I due reparations?
“All about love” and guns and drugs and gangs. Liberal utopia!
They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot.

Yup. The highways also often go through those neighborhoods because they are cesspools of crime and the land is cheap.
Sorry dude.
Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005)
Don’t blame Thomas, Scalia, Renquist, or O’Connor.

What a crock of freepin’ s***. If you don’t want to have highways go through your neighborhood, or be red-lined, then stop acting like lawless, out of control simian maniacs.
Grifter sons of bitches.
If you would like more information about what’s happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me. Please send me your name by FReepmail if you want to be on this list.
Me too. The house I lived in during hihj school in Germany 70-73 was torn down then the nighborhood reverted to German control. Only my house.
Perfect.
Sorry, white boy, no reparations for YOU!
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone
Liberals have ruined a big part of the black population. When I got out of college, the local welfare department did night time bed checks to be sure no men were residing in the homes of recipients of aid to dependent children. My sister was a social worker in Childrens Services and went to check at least once per week, including weekends to try to find violators.
Eventually, the men got the message. Some quick sex with baby momma and “I’m outta here.”
“Yup. The highways also often go through those neighborhoods because they are cesspools of crime and the land is cheap.”
The land is cheap BECAUSE they’re cesspools of crime.
Dark skinned people are willing accomplices in their own destruction.
Cause and effect.

Both of these events were orchestrated by the Federal Government.
The destruction of the urban, mostly black, city centers throughout the country was done under the guise of “urban renewal”. “Urban renewal”, in the standard manner of *all* government programs meant the exact opposite of its title; it consisted of bulldozing 100’s of thousands of older homes and businesses to be replaced by the structures of the urban planners; high-rise housing (public housing); Connected contractors made money. Small businesses and privately owned houses, mainly black-owned, were destroyed.
Redlining then followed as the “fix” for the fallout from the first policy. The Federal Government created programs to subsidize house purchases by blacks, with of course the bankers getting a fat cut of the tax monies. The catch was the banks in conjunction with the government “redlined” or marked off certain neighborhoods where the subsidized loans would be allowed.
Which neighborhoods did they select? Well, surprise, surprise, they selected those neighborhoods which were the most stable, where people had long ago paid off their mortgages. In the case of Boston, as an example, the banks targeted Mattapan, a largely jewish community. Within 10 years of the program being implemented, the neighborhood was in decline with those who could fleeing to the suburbs. The banks made money. People purchasing the homes were never financially qualified and rapidly defaulted on mortgages which accelerated the downturn in real estate. With this program, the banks made money. The real estate agents made money. The neighborhood was destroyed.

In my experience[s] it has been white skin people who have assisted in their demise. I have read of many self hating whites. And have met some. I have never read about or met a self hating black. Or any other color other than white.
