Liar. There was no actual AW ban. All the law did was require the removal of the flash suppressor, bayonet lug (how many have been bayoneted since 1900?) and the collapsible stock be made solid. Then a 10 round magazine installed.
The very same rifles, under different names, were then for sale all through the “ban”.
All through that “ban” you could find for sale 30 round magazines stamped “For Police Use Only”.
There is the import ban, though.
Also, um, lots of people have been bayoneted since 1900. The bayonet was a major weapon in WW1 and still important in WW2. US troops were still conducting bayonet charges in Korea and actual individual combat with bayonets continues sporadically to this day.
