They’ve been fooled by the belief that Russia is fighting for Christianity, against Soros and gay culture. of course Putin cares about none of that or very little of it and it certainly is not the reason that he is invading Ukraine.
Likewise none of that has anything to do with why I believe it’s in our national security interests to thwart Russia in Ukraine.
“Zelensky IS trying to eliminate the “russian based religion” in Ukraine which, unfortunately for Ukrainian Orthodox people, is THEIR religion, and has been for very long time.”
The Ukrainian Orthodox church was established independently, and remained independent from the Russian church for nearly 1000 years before the Soviets forcibly annexed it to the Russian church.
I’ve only observed Tucker hate 2 people this strongly. Zelensky is one of them. The other 1 is Jared Kushner.
Tucker is TOTALLY committed to a Russian victory in Ukraine.
As we see here, he can get some very strong conservative support for his position.
Someone on here mentioned wishing that Tucker was confronted with a real debate so someone can challenge these things.
That I totally agree with and it is never going to happen. He only presents the few guests who will support this extreme position. He never puts anyone on who could very reasonably explain our security interest Europe.
It would be very easy to counter his opinions but he doesn’t allow any of it.
“The problem is the fragmentation of Russia’s nukes. That was the issue when the Soviet Union collapsed.”
Wasn’t much of an issue actually, since Moscow retains command and control of all the nukes. Without the launch codes, all the constituent states might be able to do is disassemble their nukes to sell the fissile materials within, or maybe make a few dirty bombs.
Ukraine ping
Dr. Franklin: [The problem is the fragmentation of Russia’s nukes. That was the issue when the Soviet Union collapsed. Russia would not have ever invaded Ukraine if it had kept some nukes. ]
And nukes are useless against conventional invasion by a nuclear state. If they call your bluff and invade, what are you gonna do - nuke them and get vaporized in return?
After Ukraine’s experience, I expect these new states will want a structured path to NATO membership rather than some nebulous Budapest-like document. And that is probably a good idea, given the threat of Chinese encroachment. The key is requiring good government reforms just like those already completed in the former Warsaw Pact states that are now NATO members.
Ukraine’s traumatic experience will remind these new nations that even if you don’t get overrun completely, your cities can be set on fire and your people beset by the daily possibility of random death. Better to set aside a good chunk of the government budget to forestall that possibility.
Breaking right: Putin drunk as a skunk on Russian TV today. Not a joke.
Zelensky is Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” - 2022
Adolf Hitler was Time magazine’s “Man of the Year” - 1938
In a world though in which Russia is aggressively expansionist in Europe, hostile to the US around the world, and can rain nuclear destruction on us in less than an hour, fundamental national security considerations require that we oppose them. And, like supporting the Afghans during the Cold War, helping Ukraine in a proxy war with Russia is how we bring down Putin and his vile and dangerous regime.
Realistically, the world does not offer perfect allies, but the Ukrainians are better than most. Added to NATO and the EU, a victorious Ukraine would greatly bolster the pro-US contingent and act as a permanent check against Russia breaking bad again. We would even have a fair chance of turning a post-Putin Russia into an ally against China.
Fair point.
President Trump was Time’s Person of the Year in 2016. What’s your point?
Trump was Time POY 2016 and Reagan was 1980 and 1983.
There are - or were before Zelensky’s attacks - a sizable number of ethnic Russians and people whose primary language was Russian living in certain areas of the Ukraine. It was the Ukrainian attacks on these people that were one of these the things that provoked the war with Russia, which wanted the agreements regarding the border regions to be respected.
Since then, Zelensky has banned all political parties but his own, has purged his government of anyone who wanted negotiations, accusing them of treason, and has gone after any Russians unfortunate enough to still be living there. Putin did not insist that people be taught Russian and the Russian Orthodox religion, which is actually the same as the Ukrainian Orthodox religion, but that the Russian residents of these areas be allowed to speak and learn their language for their own use and be able to continue to be part of the Russian Orthodox Church or one of the branches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (which I think is under the Patriarch of Moscow).
This attack on the Russian Orthodox Church is just part of Zelensky’s ongoing ethnic cleansing. Interestingly, one of the things that he doesn’t like about the Russian Orthodox Church is its opposition to gay marriage and transgenders. Theoretically, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be opposed to the LGBTQRSTUV agenda too, but maybe they’ve learned to keep their mouths shut on the subject.
Zelensky is a willing (and bought and paid for) tool of the Democratic Party. I think that the provocation of hostilities was originally meant as a sort of Wag the Dog moment to distract from something the Biden had done…or maybe it was the revelations over Hunter, who was very involved in setting up the whole mess with Ukraine. But it got out of hand, Zelensky loved the limelight, and then Biden, or his handlers, at least, thought that it wasn’t a bad idea to keep it going as a distraction. Wag the Dog version 2.0, bigger and better, and they don’t care how many Russians or Ukrainians die in the process or how many hundreds of our billions they spend on whipping it up.
Sorry, Zelensky is no hero. Putin isn’t either, but this whole conflict would have been completely avoidable, except that it was decided that it would be useful to the Democratic Party.
Well said. Urkraine is a fledging democracy and democracies need to look out for each other as there are not many in the world.
Ukraine is not perfect but the alternatives could be worse. If we do not help Zelenksy and Ukraine a ruthless anti US dictator could take over Ukraine. If Ukraine loses I have no doubt Putin would not go after Estonia and Moldavia and other countries.

Ukraine is fighting because WEFis implementing global fascism and destroying the United States as a Republic in the process. It is that simple.
I could give a rat's ass about democracies. Americans don't live under one according to our Constitution. Americans and Conservatives know this.
“..What’s your point?..”
Hitler went on the ban all opposition - political parties and politicians, media, churches, etc. He became a dictator.
Zelensky has banned all opposition - political parties and politicians, media, churches, etc. Has he become a dictator?

No I am pretty sure they are fighting because they were invaded. Never would I have thought some conservatives are aligning with Russia and her allies China, Iran, NK and Cuba. The most authoriarian police states and least free countries on the planet.
I'm not aligned with any of those countries. I could care less if pootin' lives or dies. Same for zelensky. And if you want to talk about authoritarian police state, that would be where a country outlaws all political opposition and quashes religious freedom - as is the case in Ukraine.
I never thought some newbie would be spewing MSM garbage like a brainless parrot, and aligning themselves with pedophiles and fascists yet here you are.
