Walmart CEO Doug McMillon issued a stark warning Tuesday: If theft does not slow down, the retailer will close stores across the country.
"Theft is an issue," he told CNBC. "It is higher than what it has historically been."
He added: "If that's not corrected over time, prices will be higher, and/or stores will close."
McMillon did not say during the interview how much money Walmart has lost in stolen items this year. Walmart did not immediately reply to an Insider request for that number

Big deal. Their leadership are Wokey McWokersons, so I’m not really minding this.
Believe me, I don’t like theft, but Wal-Mart is so big and ubiquitous that most people can’t avoid shopping there. And their woke leadership likely means a lot more shoplifters get away than would otherwise (JMO). So, let Wal-Mart suffer.
Sad that I must say this, since there are many good people working there. Hopefully, Wal-Mart’s leadership will re-think their horrible philosophy so that these folks won’t ultimately lose their jobs.
Monday a friend of mine said she was going to the local WM -
and I asked her to pick up a bunch of celery for me.
She didn't buy it - because what they had was soft & ROTTEN.
Never even try to buy produce at Walmart.
If I were running a Wal-Mart, I would hire those extra cashiers, much to the consternation of the Woke Leadership, which apparently is woke in all things except for hiring enough people at a good enough wage.
They would more than pay for themselves, if not financially, then in the convenience for people who can get through the lines faster, and don’t need to put up with any glitches in the automated checkouts.
Theft is an integral part of being Woke.

And it doesn't help matters when Walmart and other retailers warn their employees not to stop the theft under penalty of termination. Might as well put up signs on a lot of these stores saying:
That’s only $1,400 a month, or roughly $45 a day. That sounds way too low.
Over the years it has morphed from a place to buy cheap crap,
into a place to STEAL cheap crap.
Almost all of the crap being Chinese.
No matter what they try, it will be dubbed as “racist”.

Closing stores where this happens will only displace the crime. We are seeing a rise of smash and grab crews renting cars and driving hours to high-end retails stores to commit crimes.
