WMBF reports the FBI is investigating a bomb threat called into a Myrtle Beach restaurant hosting a drag queen brunch.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department said officers responded to the Mr. Fish location on the 6400 block of North Kings Highway on Sunday after reports of the threat.
“Right now a lot of people are angry,” said a performer, who did not want to be identified and was at the event. “As much as I want to be strong about it and not let hate win, it kind of wants me to rethink a little bit. I’ve been doing this for over 30 years. A lot of raw emotions right now.”
After evacuating the restaurant to search for explosives or any other threats, nothing was found. According to the founder of Grand Strand Pride, Terry Livingston, said the community is still in shock over what happened because they had a similar incident five years ago.
“Is just really sad for me and breaks my heart that people are targeting businesses in the area,” said Livingston.
The MBPD said an investigation is now underway to find the source of the hoax, with the FBI now involved.

Last time we were in Myrtle Beach...early October...I noticed a gay bar on Kings Hwy (South, I think). Flat out advertised as such on the marquee out front.

There are many anti- LGBTQ terrorism/threats that were hoaxes (I can’t recall a real one, to be honest) and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that one of the drag queens had someone call it in to get sympathy or to advertise that the event is happening.

In the email to News13, the sender said: “We have placed several bombs in the
Mr Fish Restaurant, 6401 N Kings Hwy. We are not terrorists hurt children
which is why you have this warning to evacuate.”The email also named six people and threatened to kill them. News13 is not
identifying those people.The email also made other threats and accusations.
