MOORE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- More than 30,000 Duke Energy customers spent a second straight day in Moore County without any power with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
The widespread power outage was caused Saturday night when someone intentionally opened fire and caused millions of dollars worth of damage to two of the county's power stations.
In an update Monday afternoon, Gov. Roy Cooper led a news conference with other officials. They did not reveal any new details about the motive behind the attack.

"I think investigators are leaving no stone unturned as to what this is. They are looking at every motivation that could possibly occur here and they want to find the perpetrator," Cooper said. "Regardless of motive, violence and sabotage will not be tolerated."
Cooper said the attack was being looked at as a case of domestic terrorism. Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said the attack was targeted and intentional.
"The individual that done the damage knew exactly what they were doing to cause the damage and cause the outage that they did," Fields said.
Multiple shots were fired at two Duke Energy substations in Moore County on Saturday evening.
Jeff Brooks, spokesman for Duke Energy, said crews have been able to make some repairs on site and restore power to a few thousand people. But some of the damage is so extensive that replacement parts will have to be brought in and installed. That means the majority of people without power may have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to have it restored.
Cooper said Monday that this attack shows how valuable these power grids are and how they need to be protected.
"These kinds of things cannot happen. We cannot tolerate this type of wide power outage to so many people," Cooper said.
Fields said the FBI and Homeland Security are involved in the investigation.
They know who did it and why it was done. But the longer they hold off fixing it, the harder they can punish them (for interrupting a drag queen show)... Somewhat similar to the Jan 6th hostages.
“Why was there thought to add a drag queen to the story?”
There was considerable friction in that area over a drag show in Southern Pines. Libs are convinced that opponents shot up those substations to prevent the show from happening. It did occur during the show. I suppose that could be the case, but there is no evidence yet, just wild accusations.
I think whoever is responsible has a good general knowledge of how the grid works, and detailed knowledge of how it works in Moore county. I would think that they are interviewing a whole lot of Duke employees and contractors. I lean to some of our “guests” who arrived from the south, and who picked Moore county for a trial run, with the target picked by a foreign government or terrorist group. Just my $0.02 worth.
These substations are all fenced in. If I was young and ambitious, I would be working on some sort of bullet proof curtain that could be made cheaply and hung on a chain link fence.
“But they’re still assuming it’s white supremacists, or right wing extremists, or white nationalist, or something. “
You just made that up.
I think 2-3 guys got liquored up and decided to see if they could take out the substation.
And they know which Trump supporter they are going to pin it upon, also.
.
I think this is a Jussie Smollett / Bubba Wallace story.
Wanna bet?

Were there any pallets of brick prepositioned in the area? I never heard any hype of the ensuing investigations that must have accompanied all the misdeeds suffered by the cvs store chain and others during the peaceful protesting.
All I got to say is NOW the cats out of the bag.
“Sniper Attack On Calif. Power Station Raises Terrorism Fears”
I remember that. I have not heard of any more incidents like that until now. Trial balloon? Proof of concept? Vandals?
I think if cold weather really sets in and the grid is already under pressure, we could see more of this.
I'd start with a short list of those recently fired from the place. Then spread out from there.
“They also never figured out who placed the “bomb” in the Senate Building around January 6, 2021 either.”
There were two bombs, one at DC RNC office, and the other at the DNC office. That’s a false flag snow job of immense proportions.

AOC concurs.
““Fields said the FBI and Homeland Security are involved in the investigation.””
Now we have a valid suspect list....
The Mexican Border is wide open. It’s only a matter of time before another terrorist attack in the USA.
Producing some heavy overtime for unionized Duke Power workers. Nice Christmas cash flow.
Or is that too simple of an explanation?
Yes, they did. The bomber was a man named Anthony Quinn Warner, he died in the blast.

His crews did several electric substations in Texas.
Was told that DHS was requiring 10 foot brick walls and steel gates with zero visibility to see through.
