Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Moves to Outlaw Orthodox Christianity
Big League Politics ^ | Dec 2, 2022 | Jordan Epperson

America’s favorite moneypot is back, just in time for our American leaders’ favorite pleasure: persecuting devout Christians on the basis of their faith. Yesterday, President Zelensky of Ukraine announced Draft Law 8821, which will make the Ukrainian Orthodox Church illegal throughout the country. The law, if passed, will also allow the Ukrainian government the ability to confiscate all church property and outlaw both public and private practice of the religion.

Zelensky announces a decree banning religious organizations and churches in Ukraine with “ties to Russia.”

His government has also been raiding Ukrainian Orthodox churches and arresting priests.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has long been the largest religion of Ukraine, tracing its origins over a thousand years back to 988 with the baptism of Vladimir the Great of the Kievan Rus’ and conversion of the eastern slavs, of which both Russians and Ukrainians share a united heritage.

President Zelensky announced the reasoning behind the law as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church being in communion with the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow. Of course, all of the main Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches are in communion with each other through a shared faith and deep history back to its Great Schism with the Holy See in 1054 AD. Zelensky has stated he hopes that this will weaken ties with Russia and demoralize any pro-peace sentiments Ukrainian Christians have with their brothers that they have been so tragically spilling blood with since February.

To put this into perspective, this would essentially be the same as if FDR had outlawed Catholicism during World War II due to the United States being at war with Italy. The notion is completely absurd and is just another ploy to globalize and enslave the well-meaning people of Ukraine that have been caught in this proxy conflict of NATO globalist expansionism.

It’s important to note that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church isn’t just in communion with the Patriarch of Moscow, but the entirety of the main Eastern Orthodox Community, including Serbia, Romania, Belarus, Greece, and many more.

The messaging is clear. This isn’t just about disconnecting the country’s faithful from Russian influence. The country is at war, clearly the Russians wouldn’t be able to be utilizing churches as some sort of psychological spy routine. Zelensky’s true motivations are much, much darker. If Zelensky can effectively secularize Ukrainians the same way that our leaders have secularized the West, Ukraine can become a colony for the overall globalist corporate machine. If neo-Marxists and internationalist NGOs can fully take control over the puppet strings, there will be no future hope for peace, reconciliation, or prosperity for the peoples of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and to a further extent: all peoples of Europe.

Zelensky, who is not a Christian, nor has he ever claimed to be, is willing to use his military to raid and persecute Christians to the same extent as his communist predecessors. It is to our most sincere hope that American politicians finally cut this modern day Nero off from our taxpayer money, instead using our funds to support and defend religious liberty in the face of persecution. Our prayers are with our Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox brothers in their upcoming test of fire.

Not true. Zelensky and the Ukrainian Parliament are banning the RUSSIAN Orthodox Church, which is separate from the UKRAINIAN Orthodox Church and got caught feeding military intelligence information and targeting data to the Russian FSB and GRU.
So it's an anti-espionage measure instead of an anti-Christianity measure.
The ignorance concerning this story is appalling.

Russia has been using Orthodoxy for centuries to appeal to the people in Ukraine and Belarus. That was the device used to play divide and conquer to take these lands from the old Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which embraced freedom of religion. It gets harder to do when Ukraine has its own independent Orthodox church.

The Russian Orthodox church is NOT the primary Orthodox church in Russia.

It is the Ukrainian Orthodox church which is canonical with the Russian and other worldwide Orthodox churches, and sprung from the ROC.
This is why.

“..crackdown on the UOC follows a series of raids by the Security Service of Ukraine. The intelligence agency has said it has found evidence of UOC priests possessing Russian citizenship, contacting Russian intelligence agents and owning literature denying the right of Ukraine to exist. One of these raids was triggered by a video filmed in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra cathedral, the seat of the UOC and one of the holiest Orthodox shrines, in which the faithful sang a hymn celebrating Russia’s “awakening.”

You know Nothing about the Orthodox church.

The church in Ukraine not linked to Russia is not recognized by any of the other Orthodox churches.

You are too funny and also know Nothing about the Orthodox church.

Here in America 700 parishes, etc, also trace history to Russia.
Just as the Ukrainian church being banned does.

The church in Ukraine not linked to Russia is not recognized by any of the other Orthodox churches.

Why is that relevant? The Ukrainian Orthodox Church doesn't recognize the Pope, unlike the Ukrainian Greek Catholics. YOU don't want to recognize them as Orthodox, doesn't mean they aren't, or can't call themselves Orthodox.

Some selective editing there. But, we expect that from Russians. You simply cannot trust them to tell the truth.

Bishop Kirill is very influential, and he has pretty much merged the Orthodox Church with the Russian government. Needless to say, I don’t think that is what Jesus would do, yet with Kirill’s blessing Putin is using Almighty God as cover for his very questionable actions as head of the Russian state. There are a lot of ways you can sin against your fellow man and still end up on the list of life. Not so much when you slander the Almighty.

As someone who has followed the split of the Eastern Orthodox Churches in Ukraine, this article is garbage.

He is going after the puppet church that is supporting the invaders, not the Orthodox Church in general.

Religious freedom covers many things, but not aid and comfort to the people invading your country and killing your people.

As a matter of fact, not the Orthodox Christianity or Orthodox Church.
Only the Russian Orthodox Church!
Most Ukrainian Christians split recently ( like a decade or two ago) from the Moscow patriarchate and created independent Ukrainian Patriarchate, approved by Constantinople.
But Russian Orthodox Patriarch, who is Putin’s patsy, did not approve this. There are just few churches in Ukraine which stick with Moscow.
Since the Moscow patriarch is one of the biggest Putin’s supporters, no wonder that Zelensky is consider these churches to be the fifth column and decided to outlaw them!
