Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Moves to Outlaw Orthodox Christianity
Big League Politics ^ | Dec 2, 2022 | Jordan Epperson

America’s favorite moneypot is back, just in time for our American leaders’ favorite pleasure: persecuting devout Christians on the basis of their faith. Yesterday, President Zelensky of Ukraine announced Draft Law 8821, which will make the Ukrainian Orthodox Church illegal throughout the country. The law, if passed, will also allow the Ukrainian government the ability to confiscate all church property and outlaw both public and private practice of the religion.

Zelensky announces a decree banning religious organizations and churches in Ukraine with “ties to Russia.”

His government has also been raiding Ukrainian Orthodox churches and arresting priests.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has long been the largest religion of Ukraine, tracing its origins over a thousand years back to 988 with the baptism of Vladimir the Great of the Kievan Rus’ and conversion of the eastern slavs, of which both Russians and Ukrainians share a united heritage.

President Zelensky announced the reasoning behind the law as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church being in communion with the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow. Of course, all of the main Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches are in communion with each other through a shared faith and deep history back to its Great Schism with the Holy See in 1054 AD. Zelensky has stated he hopes that this will weaken ties with Russia and demoralize any pro-peace sentiments Ukrainian Christians have with their brothers that they have been so tragically spilling blood with since February.

To put this into perspective, this would essentially be the same as if FDR had outlawed Catholicism during World War II due to the United States being at war with Italy. The notion is completely absurd and is just another ploy to globalize and enslave the well-meaning people of Ukraine that have been caught in this proxy conflict of NATO globalist expansionism.

It’s important to note that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church isn’t just in communion with the Patriarch of Moscow, but the entirety of the main Eastern Orthodox Community, including Serbia, Romania, Belarus, Greece, and many more.

The messaging is clear. This isn’t just about disconnecting the country’s faithful from Russian influence. The country is at war, clearly the Russians wouldn’t be able to be utilizing churches as some sort of psychological spy routine. Zelensky’s true motivations are much, much darker. If Zelensky can effectively secularize Ukrainians the same way that our leaders have secularized the West, Ukraine can become a colony for the overall globalist corporate machine. If neo-Marxists and internationalist NGOs can fully take control over the puppet strings, there will be no future hope for peace, reconciliation, or prosperity for the peoples of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and to a further extent: all peoples of Europe.

Zelensky, who is not a Christian, nor has he ever claimed to be, is willing to use his military to raid and persecute Christians to the same extent as his communist predecessors. It is to our most sincere hope that American politicians finally cut this modern day Nero off from our taxpayer money, instead using our funds to support and defend religious liberty in the face of persecution. Our prayers are with our Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox brothers in their upcoming test of fire.

Ethnic Russians male up 20% of Ukraine’s population, and that % is much higher is much higher in the East and South where all the fighting is taking place. Why would any leader intentionally alienate such a large chunk of its population? Zelensky is just a US puppet intent on drawing this war out as long as possible for his puppet masters.

So what the KGB trash “church” has to do with Jesus ? Nothing. It's a parody of Christianity.

” it’s an anti-espionage measure instead of an anti-Christianity measure.”

You are an anti-Christian despicable liar. He shut down a major Christian denomination for no good reason other than to further antagonize the ethnic Russians. This action serves no useful purpose in shutting down espionage, that’s a phony excuse.

This is a dumb article. There are two Ukrainian Orthodox churches. One is under the Patriarch of Moscow, and one is autocephalous. Z is acting against the first one.

The claim that this is "as if FDR had outlawed Catholicism in WW2 because the US was at war with Italy" just makes a dumb article dumber. The Pope lives in Vatican City and is the head of state of that country. He doesn't live in Italy. The relationship of the Popes to the Italian government after 1850 or so was a tense one.

By contrast, Patriarch Kiril is Russian. He's also ex-KGB. The Russian Orthodox church has been an arm of the (Russian) state since the beginning of its existence.

The globo homo movement continues to strength on Ukraine. And the Neocons will approve of this. Which shows how false their faith is.

Many of our own churches have drifted left. There is Christian persecution going on around the world. It’s seldom mentioned in the Methodist church.

Our politicians seem to criticize Christian politicians as little as they criticize the North American Man Boy Love Association. It’s not cool to criticize Christian persecution, or pedophilia.

I keep unsubscribing from Pence e-mails. He’s dead to me. In an unrelated fact, they drip religion. Has he ever criticized NAMBLA? I mean really criticized it. I doubt it as doing so would cause him to lose support in the press. Maybe Pence can make a show of supporting Christians around the world in a surprise political move. I doubt he even has the courage to take that calculated political risk.

One of the Ukrainian Orthodox churches, the largest one, came from the Russian Orthodox church. As did the American Orthodox church.

Your ignorance is appalling. Ukrainian forces have been kidnapping and torturing Ukrainian Orthodox priests for some time now.

They are UKRAINIAN Orthodox, not Russian.

Anything in Ukraine with the tiniest historical link to Russia is persecuted.

Just like Prague is turning off water, heat, all utilities to any building owned by a Russian.

My second paragraph should have started:

Ukraine war: The role of the Orthodox churches

While the Russian Orthodox Church is the primary church in Russia, Ukraine is characterized by religious diversity. Orthodox Christianity has had a turbulent history in Ukraine, especially since Ukrainian independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Currently, two Orthodox churches exist in Ukraine. One is the independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OKU), led by Metropolitan Epiphanius. This church was recognized by Bartholomew I in Istanbul, who is considered the "spiritual leader" of the approximately 260 million Orthodox Christians worldwide.

On the other hand, there is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOK), which is an autonomous church within the Russian Orthodox Church and has not often expressed itself politically in the past.
