Read the case and then compare to what is known concerning this situation .....The dissimilarity should become clear.
I’m still trying to figure out why a Christian-based organization would even decide to go to a “Bar”?
Maybe to eat dinner.
Will be making reservations for 6 this Friday. ;^)
What would happen if a pro-Sodomite, anti-family group were denied service? It would spark a $ multimillion lawsuit and government investigations.
“have your group go there and just get a normal table without getting a room. 1 person to each table.…”
The left would have done this or worse. We don’t and this is why we lose.
If it were a group of LGBQ folks who were denied service by a restaurant owned by a Christian, the owner would be sued and forced to close their restaurant. Same should happen in this case.
Maybe. Maybe not. If a business first and foremost identifies itself as a bar then it’s safe to assume the primary function of that business is to serve liquor. Sure they may have a restaurant, but serving beer and liquor is their focus.
My point stands that they are both "Right to refuse service" cases.
I recognize this is a double edged sword, but for now I'm happy waiving it under the noses of the liberals to ask whether they condemn this anti-Christian action.
My hometown. The City of Monuments ... or it was. The “woke” Mayor (egged on by BLM & with collusion by then Gov Ralph black-face-baby-killer Northam) had the beautiful monuments along Monument Avenue taken down ... bye bye history. Some of those monuments were by famous sculptors.
Crime is up - 2nd or 3rd police chief has quit. Downtown has a lot of boarded up businesses. Used to be some charming, even historical, places to eat, places like a Metzgers. College town - ultra woke college VCU. I would bet a lot of the ‘wait staff’ are college students.
Anyway, don’t live in the city now - I won’t set foot across the city line until those monuments are back where they belong & that’s not going to happen.
They’re probably, in addition to being woke, ‘awake’ enough to ask for a credit card to hold your reservation. You don’t show up, you get charged $50-$100. Restaurants ‘targeted’ after refusing service to one group or another, use this tactic to make sure reservations are legit - “activists” don’t shell out actual $$. If you do make or try to make a reservation, let me know how it goes.
Make reservations and do not show up. Tie them up any way you can. They are already not allowing new reviews on the website and have a canned response from the owner that the reviews are fake. A massive lawsuit is the final answer to put them right out of business. No mercy.
Not now, one of America’s woke capitals.
Will do. They’re closed today. I suspect you are correct though.
They are “Right to refuse service cases” only in a rudimentary sense and hence would likely be decided differently because they ARE NOT analogous.
In the Colorado case the Supreme Court found that while the baker did need to serve gay couples, they were not obligated to express pro-gay messages.
This situation however is strictly a refusal of service that would be routinely provided to anyone that did not profess religious beliefs differing from the provider.
If the restaurant would have been tasked with providing a desert that espoused a pro-life position and they refused, the circumstance would be equivalent.

You’re joking, right???
What came to mind was the “Red Hen” incident in Lexington VA where Sarah Huckabee Sanders was kicked out. The restaurant was flooded with bogus reservations (plus negative reviews/hate mail) .... I was looking for an article & found the link below ... this is what was said:
“The Red Hen continues to feel an impact from the Sanders incident, she said, with staff still fielding occasional “nasty messages” and the restaurant requiring a specialized reservation system that helps prevent nuisance reservations meant to keep real diners away.”

Whether Metzgers is ‘up’ on this sort of reservation system remains to be seen. If there’s a big backlash, they could always call the Red Hen for advice.
It looks like Yahoo has already stopped reviews from being posted on Metzgers - Red Hen took a big hit there, too.
Find an eager lawyer and file a civil rights suit, let it take time to work it’s way through the court system. Make the woke shrews live by their own words. This is not the time to turn the other cheek, sometimes you have to take a stand.
Note the difference between deciding in court and rubbing the noses of the left in their unwillingness to condemn the restaurant’s actions.
Yep, the brazen hypocrisy of the left is consistent regardless.
