Biden's Oil Deal With Venezuela Is Worse Than You Think
PJ Media ^ | DECEMBER 02, 2022 | Rick Moran

A week ago the Biden administration announced that it had approved an expansion of the license to Chevron so they could resume oil production in Venezuela.

This was a surprise given the administration’s hostility to fossil fuels in general and oil from Venezuela in particular.

...

That Biden would allow oil to flow from a socialist dictator like Nicolás Maduro isn’t shocking. The administration has made a nasty habit of dealing with dictators while leaving our friends high and dry. Such is the case with tiny Guyana, which was recently discovered to be sitting on an ocean of crude oil. One of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, Guyana would benefit enormously from U.S. expertise and loans.

But that’s not going to happen.

...

all of a sudden, the earth is no longer in imminent danger of burning up and Maduro’s heavy-handed oppression doesn’t look too bad.

Venezuelan deal, that’s a good example of the desperation that this administration is

...

the extraordinarily short-sighted decisions of the Biden administration that virtually shut down the shale industry just as the price of fuel was skyrocketing and driving the rate of inflation.

...

They know what they did. They know they took the federal lands off the table,” Hamm said. “They know better and shame on them . . . They want to put oil and gas out of business.” . . .

“You have to understand where diesel comes from, and you can’t make it out of tar,” he said, in a reference to Venezuela’s ultra-heavy bituminous oil, which needs to be blended with lighter grades and requires extensive refining. . . .

The decision to allow Venezuela to expand oil production is stupid, self-defeating, and dangerously naive. All are hallmarks of the Biden administration’s approach to ..

Ugh…. Didn’t know how heavy theirs is. That’s going to create more problems than it solves. This sounds like a Venezuela bail out for their corruptocrats.

Yes it is, but the Uniparty is reaping our treasure for their benefit. I can’t stand these thieves.

The Chevron CEO said that they weren't going to increase investments in Venezuela, so Biden extended their license for nothing.

Venezuelan oil is dirty and hard to refine.

West Texas crude is sweet and easy to refine.

So what does Biden do? Shut downs American oil, and buys communist oil.

To say that I despise Biden and his people barely scratches my contempt for them.

“Worse than I think” territory is shrinking fast. FJB should have been locked in one of his rental cars in Massachusetts. IMO

Yeah. It’s a very heavy crude.
As far as I know, there are only two refineries in the US that can handle the stuff: both Citgo, one in Lake Charles, LA and the other in Corpus Christie, TX. There may be one or two others around Houston maybe, but that’s it.
And after the way the U.S. companies were beaten in Venezuela when they communized/nationalized, I’m verrrrrry surprised that Chevron wants anything to do with down there.....unless it’s completely backed up by the U.S. government somehow. There’s no way a sane oil company is gonna go back in there under the existing conditions.

Chevron wants to replace Occidental Petroleum and Armand Hammer as the Marxists favored oil investors. Leave it to a California operation to play footsie with despots.

Refineries in the US are optimized to handle a mixture of light and heavy crude.

Since Obama and his minions are really running the government, this is no surprise. Both Obama and Billary talked all the time about destroying the American coal industry (as far as using the coal in the United States). Obama did support shipping tons and tons of American coal to China. The fact that China has been building coal-fired electricity plants at a breakneck pace is of no concern to Obama and all other leftists as long as no United States citizen benefits from inexpensive energy. All of the Globull Climate Horsepuckey is just a power / control fiasco.

Did you know that Obama has / is installing 3 huge Natural Gas tanks on one of his east coast properties? As soon as those tanks are full, he will no doubt talk about the evil of using any more natural gas, now that he has enough.

Generally speaking; yes.
However, the two that I mentioned were/are designed specifically to handle the heavy, nasty, dirty crap that’s considered oil out of Venezuela. I believe they’re even owned by Venezuela’s oil company.

Rosneft and PetroChina are doing just fine in Venezuela.

No one seems to have asked Maduro if he’s interested in Chevron.
