McCarthy was nominated to be the GOP candidate for Speaker by something like a 180-30 margin.
Only in Freeper Fantasyland does the 30-vote minority decide that someone other than the guy with 180+ votes is best suited to "unite the party."
I will say this: The best thing about this fiasco is that it plays right into Donald Trump's hands as a presidential candidate.
It is impossible to have someone whom everyone is going to unite behind as the preferred candidate. That's why it is necessary to hold votes in the first place - to resolve disagreements about which candidate is preferred. And generally, we agree to abide by that result.
