"They brought this upon themselves."
Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t going to let the Walt Disney Company come in from the cold anytime soon if comments Tuesday evening are any indication.
Presented with regretful comments from Disney CEO Bob Iger about consequences for the company’s opposition to the state’s Parental Rights in Education law, DeSantis did not back down from previous critiques of the “Burbank-based” corporation.
“We didn’t drag them in, Tucker, they went in on their own,” DeSantis said on Fox News. “And not only opposed the bill. They threatened to get it repealed. These are parents’ rights … important policies in our state. They’re very popular.”
“So they brought this upon themselves,” DeSantis said. “All we did was stand up for what was right. And yes, they’re a big, powerful company, but you know what? We stand up for our folks and I don’t care what a Burbank-based California company says about our laws.”
The Governor’s comments on Fox came after Iger told employees Tuesday that he “was sorry to see us dragged into that battle, and I have no idea exactly what its ramifications are.”
Earlier this year, Florida lawmakers advanced two bills, SB 4C and SB 6C, which targeted Disney after the company said that it would work to repeal HB 1557.
The former bill was intended to punish the company by stripping Disney of its self-governing status in the Reedy Creek Improvement District, though that wasn’t an immediate repeal, with an effective date of June 2023. Another bill removed a carve-out created for Disney exempting it from a law passed in 2021 targeting so-called Big Tech.
“Disney got away with special deals for way too long. It took a look under the hood to see what Disney has become to truly understand their inappropriate influence.”

Florida’s vote is not secure.
DeSantis has done nothing substantive to change THAT.
Have you had the opportunity to chat with many politicians? I am assuming that your assessment is based upon comparisons with other, not-so-sincere or down-to-earth politicians with whom you have had face-to-face encounters / exchanged at least small talk.
Regards,
I got down here last year. I would enjoy him being my governor until 2026.
Your demand that he eliminate both mail-in voting and early voting is unreasonable, and wouldn't survive court challenge.
Yup. He has more work to do.
Da Man!
May he NEVER be ready to favor Disney and it’s woke management.

Florida's mail-in voting is more like absentee voting in that the voter must request a ballot. Upon return, the signature is compared to the voter's previous signatures.
No mass mail-away ballots in FL. That is the source of the real fraud.
From a Jan 18th 2019 article:
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday suspended Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, naming attorney Wendy Sartory Link as her replacement.
He also said he would accept the resignation of Broward County elections supervisor Brenda Snipes, “formally terminating her duties.”

Quite substantive. Agree?
Remember that the cultists will do anything to tarnish DeSantis - the Republican circular firing squad has always existed.
My instincts say he will run for prez.
Mewzilla is well aware that there’s no Ranked Choice Voting in Florida thanks to DeSantis’ leadership yet he/she continues to post this deliberate disinformation on every DeSantis thread he/she comes across.
It’s as if some people find DeSantis threatening and are trying to knock him down, and on a conservative forum no less.
Shameful.
He also fired Miami-Dade’s election head, didn’t he?
Right - pretty clear what the motivation is for attacking DeSantis.
Good.
This country does not deserve DeSantis.
I think DeSantis is a true believer, and I mean that in the best possible way. If he believes that Trump will be a strong candidate in the general election, and has a good chance of defeating the Democrat, he won't run. He'd be content to wait as long as there is another Republican in the White House.
But if he believes that Trump can't win the general election, then I think he will choose to run himself in 2024 because he doesn't want to see the country stay under the control of the left.
In other words, he'll run if he thinks it's necessary, and he's got another seven or eight months to let things play out before making a decision.
“It’s as if some people find DeSantis threatening and are trying to knock him down, and on a conservative forum no less.”
I think DeSantis did a fantastic job on voter fraud and by fixing what he did it went from Purple to Deep Red. Dade was even able to count most of their votes before the Panhandle was close. Amazing what can be done by removing the fraud element can do.
Still he is an Establishment crony. He is staying in his Gov lane and not really speaking out against everything that is destroying and will continue to destroy this country. He is refusing to discussed massive fraud in other states that gave us Biden and stole the senate, the unequal justice system, the coup attempts, Jan 6 prisoners, Hunter and the Biden family corruption, corrupt DOJ, corrupt FBI, Mitch McConnel Chinese corruption, the list of things that he is silent on is deafening.
Not as far as I know.
Good points.
You need smart pills. DeSantis doesn’t need or want your support lol.
