Good! Spotify actually has a better selection of music and much more freedom in its offerings than any of the other streaming music sources. For a long time, it was hard to get in the US, but now you can get it and it’s great.

I think Spotify is up to the challenge.

Does Spotify do in-app sales? I think it’s just a subscription service. And not all that great they tricked me into thinking if I added another user to my account for $5 more that we could each listen separately, but that is not true. Still can only listen to one device at a time and all the playlists end up shared. If my wife is in the car and I turn on Spotify it changes songs on her car. It was fun for a few minutes but now just annoying. And now I have to scroll through all her playlists to find mine.

Still pretty decent selection of music, but not a great app. With every other streaming service (netflix, HBO, amazon etc) each user gets their own account and can watch/listen separately. Spotify still hasn’t figured that part out nor do I think they want to. Why would anyone want to pay $5 extra for what amounts to basically zero added value?

None of this is to condone Apple’s practices. They are either a monopoly or part of a very tight oligopoly with Google and something needs to be done. I get that they just want to charge 30% for everything and think that it’s fair. And to be honest I am not sure what would be more fair (discounts for higher grossing companies?). I keep hoping that 5G networks will make the entire app thing a relic. Just go to a website. Those are still sort-of free. Fairly easy to make a weblink appear as a button on the home screen.

Spotify was one of the first to start banning conservatives on their platform years before Twitter. They only signed Rogan for money but they made sure not broadcast the Alex Jones interview Rogan did years ago.
