CHICAGO (CBS) – At least eight people are dead, and 29 others are wounded in shootings during the Thanksgiving weekend in the city. The ages of the victims range from 13 to 60.
In the first shooting of the holiday weekend, a 19-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday inside a home in the 8100 block of South Peoria Street.
Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the gunshot wound might have been self-inflicted.
Two men were shot in the 9000 block of South Racine Avenue on Thanksgiving Day.
Police said around 4:44 p.m., the victims, 34 and 40, were struck in the body by gunfire.

The New York Times had a weepy front page article on Thursday about 14 people who died in highly publicized mass shootings that would not be at Thanksgiving dinner.
My first thought...
14 people (most of them Black) are murdered in Chicago every week, and the NYT never says a word!

I was in Chicago when the National Boatbuilders Boat Show was held at McCormick Place. (In 1990). Visited the museum it was nice. Never been back to Chi-town, McCormick’s hot dog was $7 back then!
As of 12:15pm MST, they are up to 9 for the long weekend and 52 for the month.
From my past observations over the past few years on Heyjackass, it looks to me like they are right on target for the weekend average and a couple short for the month. My figuring tells me they are going to need at least 2-4 more to reach the 2-a-day average by the end of them month, since Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays are usually kinda slow. And tonight is going to have to be spectacular to get even close to the weekend record years of 2016 and 2020. However I am sure they are doing their best or worst going for the record.

My daughter and son-in-law live in the Portage Park area, and that’s not bad, but the “good”areas are becoming fewer and far between…
