While there’s been no official word, legendary British rockers Pink Floyd have been shopping their recorded-music catalog and other assets for several months, seeking as much as $500 million, according to the Financial Times, with both major music companies and investment firms as the top bidders. But sources say an explosive new interview with founding member, main songwriter and stakeholder Roger Waters — in which he makes extensive remarks about Israel, Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and other political matters that one could politely characterize as controversial — is giving at least one potential buyer cold feet and seems likely to lead others to rethink their positions.
For years Waters has sounded off about politics in the press and at his concerts, most controversially Israel’s policies. But the new interview in Rolling Stone raises (or lowers) the bar considerably. While interviewer James Ball does his best to challenge some of Waters’ more far-fetched statements, the former Pink Floyd singer argues emphatically that some Jewish people in the U.S. and U.K. bear responsibility for the actions of Israel “because they pay for everything”; that well-documented accounts of Russian war crimes in Ukraine are “lies, lies, lies”; that the United States is “the most evil [country in the world] of all by a factor of at least 10 times”; that Russia’s brutal military involvement in Syria is justified because “they were there at the invitation of the Syrian government” (which is led by one of the world’s most murderous dictators, Bashar Assad), and more. None of the people or bands I listed in post 28 are boomers.
All of these people and bands are from the generation before the baby boomers.
You still haven’t answered the question. How many of them are still widely listened to?
Can you show the radio station of listeners that has the Momma and the Papas on their play list?
What about Perry Como is he still listened to widely?

The Great Forgetting is a continual process that every generation goes through. You went through and I went through it. Our children are going through it.
Somebody should tell Shakespeare, Homer, Beethoven, and Mozart.

The Greatest Generation. Baby boomers. Generation X. Generation Y. Millenials.
All their music will be replaced by future music.
My comments is a general one and not specific to baby boomers.
All my point was, on my original comment,is that Waters is smart to sell out while it is at a high price and he’s young enough to enjoy the money.
That’s all I said in my original point.
Who knows what you listen to but a lot of old bands and music still play and sell well from country to rock to classical and jazz.
This thread is about a 500 million dollar sell price for Pink Floyd.
If your point is merely that bands lose audience over 50, 60, or 70 years, we all know that, but you seem obsessed with it as though people don’t know that teen popularity is not eternal.

Every other comment in this thread that I was defending that one comment, because some here couldn’t help but criticize my one comment because they took it personally for some reason.
It’s not me who is obsessed with the idea that bands go on forever. It’s those who took my one comment personally who seem obsessed with that.
The music industry is dead. There is no further money to make anymore in music.
Your comment was about boomer musicians of the 1960s and then you started playing games when that was addressed directly and revealed your ignorance of boomers and the 1960s, and 1960s music.

I went to a lot of trouble to make sure that my son was born in my state of Texas, it was an absolute that had to be met.
The most powerful station in my area is the oldies station.
You should listen to one of his interviews, a lot of what he has been saying is more true than anything else about Russia, Ukraine and the U.S..
