You see? Our "allies" can afford to protect themselves from the big, bad wolves.
The common theme I see among the single-minded neocons here is that the USA, in the modern world is beyond neutrality, must build and maintain global military alliances, and must be in a constant state of war, because we face existential threats everywhere.
What they don’t realize is that threats everywhere means security nowhere. Just like Rome, Byzantium, Ottoman Turkey, etc... in this binary state, they are hastening the decline and collapse of the American Empire
