Nixon thought his reelection was at risk if peace talks were held. He had Kissinger see Thieu and make him withdraw his resignation and thus prevent peace talks. Thus war continued for 2 more years. How many US soldiers died during those 2 years that might have lived with peace talks in process?

I think Kissinger was and is just very good at self-marketing. People think he’s a great diplomat (as did I until around 2002/2003 - but can’t say exactly why.
When one reads what he ACTUALLY did, then one things “hey, he was the opposite of a good diplomat”
