It’s our thirst to understand “why” someone would carry out such a horrific act that drives our curiosity and animates our search for a political villain in these mass shootings.
Answers are always few and very unsatisfying. Trying to ascribe rational, logical thought processes to someone who is mentally ill is an exercise in futility. It doesn’t matter if he leaves a right-wing manifesto railing against blacks and Jews or swears allegiance to Antifa and claims to want to stamp out “fascism.” “Politics” — a shooter’s limited understanding of it — isn’t a catalyst as much as it is a touchstone to a reality of which he or she is only vaguely aware.
The most recent incident led to a familiar pattern. A man walked into a gay club where a drag queen show was underway. Before he was stopped, five people were killed and 18 were wounded. Given the gunman’s “target,” it was “naturally” assumed that the perpetrator was a right-wing fanatic who was driven to this mass slaughter by conservative politicians and online hate sites (like PJ Media).

No reason for them to change. first one out with the story wins even if it is wrong as long as it supports the woke pablum and is politically correct.

I’ll bet a month from now you could ask some young leftist about this latest shooting at the gay nightclub and the chances are high they’d tell you it was by a “right-wing” Republican.

It isn’t a “lesson” that they even want to “learn”. They know full well that it isn’t important who did what, it is important that they use the occasion to smear.
When the truth comes out, it comes and goes, but they know full well the smear remains. That is why they do it. They aren’t shamed or embarrassed by it.
It is fully intentional.

If you look at the shootings of the past, the leftist smear is what you remember, not the truth.
Correct. Truth is not even a consideration. It is not a matter of the left “learning to wait”. They will exploit these tragedies every time. The truth will be whispered or not mentioned at all.
I am a fervent supporter of both the 1st and 2nd Amendments.
This puts me in a spot I don’t like, but that is what those things mean: All should reap full benefit from them.
Including people whose actions with words and weapons I abhor.
That said, I have often said that in theory, the best way to reduce gun violence is to ban Leftists from owning them. But in the next breath I have to defer to the principle that all people deserve the right of self-defense, including Leftist.
Have you looked around? Most people in this country will only remember the first stories. What’s reported many days or weeks later will just be ignored.
