“doesn’t that obviate the need for a recount, or is one mandated by some arcane Colorado election law...”
Concession is not mentioned in any election law and is meaningless. Yes, Colorado law mandates recounts if the margin is close enough.
“In Colorado’s case, state statute requires a recount “if the difference between the highest number of votes cast in that election contest and the next highest number of votes cast in that election contest is less than or equal to one-half of one percent of the highest vote cast in that election contest.”
The Dem concedes but the f'ing AP say's NO?????!!!!!!
"keep...from..." is an overstatement...
The more exact terms would be "slowed down"...
Excluding the SCOTUS, what, exactly, has a GOP House or Senate stopped the communists from imposing on the Nation?
Communists: "We will need to cut off one hand and one foot from every serf!"
GOP: "Let's discuss this in bipartisan fashion..."
Result: The GOP brags that they reduced the communist goals and only the fingers of one hand and the toes of one foot will be cut off!"
Dave Wasserman has called that race for Duarte. That’s based on his analysis of what’s left to count.
“Communists: “We will need to cut off one hand and one foot from every serf!”
GOP: “Let’s discuss this in bipartisan fashion...”
Result: The GOP brags that they reduced the communist goals and only the fingers of one hand and the toes of one foot will be cut off!”

The GOP is a lot more compassionate than that. They will settle for pulling off the nails of the fingers and toes...and accuse anyone who howls in pain of being a right-wing extremist conspiracy nut.
222 is looking like the correct number.
The apples to apples metric in an off year election of the first term of a President is an average net gain of 27 for the opposition party.
If 222 is the number that would be a net gain of 9.
That is a poor performance by any reasonable objective standard.
Actually, I put this news in the BFD file. I think it won’t be enough to offset the so-called “moderates,” who want to McCain their way through Congress, or the other guys who don’t really want to accomplish anything except to get along and be loved by the MSM.
That’s a tight race; when a dem wins 50.1 to 49.9, it’s an overwhelming mandate.
I look forward to the next government shutdown
Right on. Now we are getting somewhere.
Kiley’s opponent must have had huge money for the campaign. His TV ads were on constantly for 6 months leading up to the election.
On the surface, he was an attractive candidate, a doctor, and a vet with two tours of duty in Iraq.
But for some weird reason the ads didn’t seem to highlight which political party he represented. LOL
Will we know in time for the new congress to be sworn in?
I’ve been saying 222 since election night.
Yeah but the baseline was high to begin with. Most times opposition party do not start the election only down 10 seats. Because usually the party that wins the presidential election gets huge gains in the house at the same time.
Offsetting that was the incredible increase in inflation from January 2021 (about 2%) to the election (officially about 8%).
Under normal circumstances that disaster (for everyone) should have crushed the Presidential party—50 seat + loss.
The Republicans were playing on a field tilted in their favor—and then just squeaked by...
Pathetic.
We need to be honest with ourselves.
Democratic cheating was a factor in ten or so House races imho (including one race in my home state of CT)—but even then the Republicans fell well short of where they should have been...
Mcarthy better grow some balls
Yes indeed...
