The word thanksgiving is now in the forbidden list. It’s racist and demeaning to the indigenous culture of the pre-colonial era. Even though the puritans were rescued by the Indian culture and later converted to Christianity, it’s not considered proper to remember history.

I saw a poster for it at the school I sub at and wondered the same thing. Apparently it’s just Thanksgiving spent with friends as opposed to family. But the cute new name misses (perhaps deliberately) the whole point of the holiday, doesn’t it?

We are supposed to be giving thanks to God for our blessings.
