The Walt Disney Company has tapped its former CEO Bob Iger to return to head the company for two years, firing his successor Bob Chapek in a move that stunned the entertainment industry.
Chapek is leaving after the company posted lower than expected earnings in the last quarter. Hollywood’s creative community had grumbled about Chapek’s cost-cutting measures and sometimes blunt approach to talent, while theme park regulars had been unhappy with price hikes.
So, it’s back to Iger.
“The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the company through this pivotal period,” Susan Arnold, Disney’s chairman, said in a statement.
Arnold thanked Chapek for leading the company through the pandemic, while enthusing over Iger’s stature within the company, which he led for 15 years before his ouster in early 2020.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Literally.
Iger was smarter and knew how to get things done.
.....”Woke to broke”......cute.
If he doesn't get to the root of the problem, it will grow back as soon as he leaves (or sooner).
“...interesting to see if Iger guts those departments that pushed Wokeness...”
Most Disney types want the wokeness gone—it is destroying the company with the customer base and they know it. Iger will quietly delete the woke crap. Watch and see.
The LGBTQ and Woke crowd have destroyed the Disney legacy. We'll see if Iger (a guy who reputedly has never made any enemies**) has the gumption to clean house.

Is Iger any less woke? I ask out of ignorance. I really don’t know. I do know that we can immediately know. There needs to be mass firings of the woke leftists at Disney if they every want to improve their bottom line.
Given Disney's large creative side, the invading Wokesters may have found fertile ground for their insidious ideology.
“...over Iger’s stature within the company, which he led for 15 years before his ouster in early 2020.”
So...Disney was wrong about being wrong with Iger before. And now they’re choosing to be wrong again?
“Is Iger any less woke?”
Iger knows wokeness has no place at Disney. He knows the customer and the 1% CROWD IS NOT WHO HE IS WORKING FOR.

Yup. Cost cutting measures is the problem.... Isn’t there a phrase about how a blind man can’t see? I hope Disney DIES.
Mouse cancelled.
Replaced by a rat.
The brand is irreparably broken. My family did not spend $20,000 last year on a cruise because of it. Woke, queer, quarantine, vax. A drop in their bucket, I know - but multiple times a bunch of families...
And the thing is, they don't even think of reversing the damage - they're full speed ahead perversion.
Not sure that’s a good thing. Being a good leader means that you’re not afraid of being considered a SOB sometimes.

People like me, who heard those creepy groomer executives boldly bragging about “…queering everything up…” on a recorded Zoom call must be fired and not sent to a get their minds right seminar. YOU CANNOT change someone’s sexual proclivities.
I’m not sure Iger has the moxie to fix all that ails Disney. Quite frankly, it might just take DeSantis’ help. Then again you have Disneyland and governor nephew and the cesspool known as Orange County, Hell all of California has become a cesspool.
Agreed. An SOB is certainly what Disney needs right now given that the first order of business is to clean out the rot.
“Iger will quietly delete the woke crap. Watch and see.”
Call me skeptical. Corporate Wokeness is here to stay, and it likely will get worse.
I’m curious, what are you basing your assumptions on? Do you have inside personal knowledge, are you an employee, or a Disney apologist? You seem pretty sure that Iger can get Disney back on track.
Doesn’t Iger own some of this problem too? It appears the degree of rot is so deep that it seems like it had to have started under his tutelage. I certainly despise what Disney has chosen to become.🐭
If you want to bring Disney back, you need to 1) Fire the people who appeared in that Zoom conference admitting to deliberately inserting LGBTQP in films and television made for families and 2) Replace Kathleen Kennedy with Jon Favreau.
