Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is demanding to see all communications between Democratic Party officials and the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission following the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, whose founder and former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is a prominent Democratic donor.
"... [Y]ou must conduct a full conflict-of-interest review to ensure that Mr. Bankman-Fried’s status as a top donor to the Democratic Party did not insulate him from oversight and accountability," Hawley wrote in a letter Friday to Attorney General Merrick Garland, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler and Commodity Commission Chairman Rostin Behman.
A bipartisan House committee is investigating the collapse of FTX, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this month after it became public that hundreds of millions of dollars were missing from the service.
“To be clear, Mr. Bankman-Fried funded his lavish donations to the Democratic Party through rampant fraud," Hawley wrote. "The net result was that billions of dollars were stolen from investors and handed over to Democrats and left-wing organizations."
Hawley questioned why the company's scheme was revealed after the midterm elections.

Democrats and RINOs like McConnell.
Did he walk down the hall to ask for Mitch’s and McCarthy’s communications? We all know what was reported, now where’s that laundry ticket?
Theatre?
The letter is a start. The test is if they keep the pressure on.
The dates of the communication are important to show the political nature affecting mid term election.
Like he’s going to get what he’s “demanding”. LOL! But it’s a good show.
Is there really a record of this stuff?
“Is there really a record of this stuff?”
NO
“Theatre?”
kabuki theatre.
No ticky? No laundry!
Who is pictured top right?
He’s peeved and he’s feisty and he already publicly said we need new leaderships and a new party. Go for Josh.
He’s some nerd 20-something. No, he didn’t.
All Hawley can do is make noise. Republicans have no power in the Senate, thanks to election cheating that RINOs turned a blind eye to in 2020 and still continues.
It is smart to ask DOJ, etc. first. He can’t first ask McConnell/McCarthy and expect to get anything. Or worse, have them team up w/DOJ against him to save there hides.
Agree, but I think Hawley wants to make it public. Better than nothing which is what we get from McConnell, et al.
I am from Missouri, and I never heard of Josh Hawley before he came from out of nowhere to become a Missouri US Senator.
He felt like a Trojan Horse to me from the very beginning.
He says all the right things and has done nothing to indicate he is a decepticon, but I still do not trust him.
You don’t get elected US Senator without a lot of money backing you up.
Where did his come from?
