Ohio Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown will seek reelection in 2024 for another term in the United States Senate as no Democrat won statewide during the 2022 midterm elections.
Brown, who just turned 70 this past week, told Spectrum News he plans on running for reelection in the Buckeye State in 2024. “I’m running in 2024. And I run to win,” he said.
“People recognize that I get up every day and fight for the dignity of work. Whether you swipe a badge or punch a clock or work for tips or work for a salary,” the Democrat told Spectrum.
Even after Republican J.D. Vance beat Rep. Tim Ryan by nearly seven points last week to fill the U.S. Senate seat and no Democrat won statewide, Brown — the current chair of the Senate Banking and Housing Committee said “there’s no question” a Democrat could win in the state.
“I think Ohio’s a hard state,” Brown said. “[Senate Republican Leader Mitch] McConnell came in and sort of buried [Ryan] at the end with a lot of money. And the governor’s race wasn’t close. The dynamics in Ohio are difficult.”
Notability, Brown is the only Democrat to win statewide in the last decade.

Ohio is turning redder all the time. My southeastern Ohio county, in what was once coal country and solid Union-Democrat, went 100% solid Republican this time, from Vance and Bill Johnson down to dogcatcher. Only Democrat who survived was County Auditor, but she ran unopposed. The last Democrat to hold the office of County Commissioner flooded the area with yard signs and newspaper ads, and lost AGAIN to the Republican.
Similar to Arizona where only the Republican candidate for Treasurer won.
Good. That’s one of 3 seats at most we could win. Ohio, Manchin’s seat and Tester in MT. Look at the map, even thought the Democrats are defending a lot of seats, are there any that are achievable beyond these?
Omg! In AZ just one? My God all the California transfers and illegals are making a huge impact turning AZ blue! Not good! The evil rats have their claws deeply embedded in official positions and won’t ever give it up…TURNING INTO ANOTHER FRUAD STATE! Their motto..WIN AT ALL COST! Screw the laws!
We can’t beat somebody with nobody. Recruiting a quality candidate will be essential since this jerk has rooted himself in the Senate. Does virtually nothing, so his several re-elections must be hangovers from the past. It would be so good for America for him to be rooted out.
I loathe that guy
Quality candidate is a must. There are half a dozen RINOs here, like Jane Timken, whom the GOPe will try to foist on us. I didn’t like Vance (still don’t trust him) but he had Trump’s endorsement and Peter Thiel behind him, and that was enough to dunk Ryan. I still like Josh Mandel, but he’s been so bespattered with mud over the last 2-3 election cycles.... And can he get the funding? He would have won this primary, except he couldn’t match the Thiel juggernaut.
Vance is awesome. He is for tariffs and rapatriation of heavy industry.
Beauty is a beauty does. He has ZERO voting history to prove he is what he says he is. IMHO he’ll be The Senator From Silicon Valley, since Peter Thiel put him in the seat.
You’d rather have a proven globalist RINO. I get it.
Brown has gotten lucky the last two elections, being up for reelection in a year favorable to Democrats. But, he's the only Democrat to win a statewide election since I moved here in 2010. And, it almost certainly be a year favorable to Republicans in 2024.
Ryan only won 7/88 counties.
Tell Sherrod Brown, “It’s on!” Mike Turner could kick his a&& God help us if the Stoopid Party runs someone like Renacci again.
Time to flush the Brown!
Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, Minnesota, and Maine
Sherrod looks like a bum.
Brown is a nasty lunatic. He should be target #1.
Thiel is extremely smart and he is conservative in most aspects
There is an interview that was posted here a few days ago that should be listened to, it’s a quite interesting perspective
The GOP needs to start now recruiting candidates to run for each of the 23 seats that the Dems have up for grabs in 2024. As well as a few that the GOP has up for re-election.
