Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday said the GOP needs a leader who doesn’t claim “victimhood” in an apparent jab at former President Trump, who repeatedly referred to himself as a “victim” during his Tuesday night speech announcing his run for president in 2024.
“We need more seriousness, less noise, and leaders who are looking forward, not staring in the rearview mirror claiming victimhood,” Pompeo wrote on Twitter.
Though Pompeo didn’t mention the former president by name, but his comments came hours after Trump’s speech.
“I’m a victim, I will tell you. I’m a victim,” Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla.
Trump made the much-anticipated announcement that he would make a third run for the White House just a week after the Republican Party’s disappointing midterm results.
The GOP’s hoped-for “red wave” failed to materialize, and Democrats were able to hold on to control of the U.S. Senate.

Trump was attacked by the FBI, DOJ and DOH before he even took office. Before he took office, they offered a million dollars to anyone who could verify the fake Russia scam.
After he left office, the FBI raided his home and took his personal belongs. And, the NYT announced quietly yesterday that no incriminating evidence was found.
But why would he feel victimized?

Most people in the world today are fickle. They will turn on you at the drop of a hat. I remember seeing an old interview of Trump, and he said something along the line, that at some point in time, people who you thought you could trust would eventually stab you in the back, or sell you out. I can't remember the exact quote though.
Trump read the snake, but he did not internalize it.
We need leaders who recognize the enemy and stand up for we the people!

There’s been several others already. The midterm elections made Trump look weak and wounded so we can expect more and more Republicans becoming more openly critical of Trump.

It is an eye-opening experience.
It’s shocking and scary.
first of all, it’s not a claim- it’s a verifiable fact- second of all, Trump has every right to let as many people know who might not be aware, that he was persecuted for 6 years now- at every turn- but was STILL able to accomplish tremendous things for this country and others, and for Israel- Statign facts abotu persecution isn’t ‘claiming victimhood’- it is pointing out facts-
