New York Post taunts Trump’s presidential bid with ‘Florida man makes announcement’ teaser at very bottom of the front page

What a difference two years makes in the tabloid wars.

The New York Post endorsed Donald Trump in the 2020 election (after abstaining from endorsing any presidential candidate in 2016), and splashed the former president across its front page at the time, calling on him to “Make America great again, again.”

But after Trump launched his third consecutive presidential bid in Palm Beach, Fla., on Tuesday night, the Post not only buried its piece on the announcement on page 26 come Wednesday morning, it also relegated the news item to a simple banner running along the bottom of the front page that read, “Florida man makes announcement.” It chose to devote most of its front page to reporting on gang violence in New York City instead.

It didn’t get much better for the former president inside. The anonymous staff report, running just a few column inches long, led with the headline “Been there, Don that.” And it described Trump as “a Florida retiree” and “avid golfer” with a “classified documents library” at his Mar-a-Lago home and membership club.

It also described Trump as famous for “gold-plated lobbies and for firing people on reality television,” and said that his qualifications for office included “being a ‘stable genius.’”

Top of page "Crime and murder is out of control"

Bottom of page: "Let's make sure Orange Man Bad doesn't become President"

The editors must have failed to connect the dots.

Trump actually came from New York, like you guys, NY Post.

A place where people get shoved in front of subway trains, old ladies get beaten by one thug holding them and the other kicking them, mothers with children in the car get carjacked, elementary school kids gets exposed to local teens’ fentanyl and a huge segment called urban persons of color have a big chip on their shoulders.

Welcome to New York, run entirely by elected Democrats for a long, long time.

Rush before he left New York said New Yorkers are only there for greed and their careers. They lie and say they like the culture, shows and city excitement——all a lie. They have to pay a premium of ridiculous prices for housing and everything they buy-—because it’s New York. Then he left to live in and broadcast from Florida.

What’s the worst thing that could happen if Trump runs?
He tells people too much truth?

Nothing really new. Murdoch didn’t turn on Trump. He never was a Trump supporter to begin with.

Murdoch supported Hillary in 2006, 2008 (8 years before trump ran) and again in 2016.

Well i mean there could be unchecked illegal immigration, hostility toward the energy sector, the overproduction US debt causing hyperinflation, record high interest rates, rampant violent crime and murder, proxy wars...so many things that could go wrong. Oh wait...

Who owns the New York Post?

In 1976, Rupert Murdoch bought the Post for US $30.5 million. Since 1993, the Post has been owned by Murdoch’s News Corp. Its distribution ranked 4th in the US in 2019.
