Stuart Varney's show on Fox Business has been a staple for me in the mornings for a very long time. I liked him — his story, his style, and the way he brings along others to build their careers. He has always maintained his dignity and been civil to his guests.
Now, however, he has a full-blown case of Trump Derangement Syndrome and is blowing a long career for it. He doesn't like Trump. Okay, I get it. Since just before the election, however, he has become an activist and an unfair one at that. He has a segment called "my take" where he clearly states his opinions. The entire program is now "my take."
We are all disappointed in the election results, but he has put all his energy into lobbying for Ron DeSantis and destroying Trump. I don't think he is helping the Florida governor much. Neither Trump nor DeSantis nor the Republican Party needs a fight right now. But Varney wants one and is spending his hard fought success to get it.
He aggressively states at every possible point that he doesn't think Trump can win in 2024, and that DeSantis is the "future of the party." That is not for him to decide. He solicits virtually every guest to join his crusade — even if it means political suicide for the guest. He is personally outraged that Trump "smeared" DeSantis by calling him "Ron DeSanctimonius." Varney is far more upset about this than DeSantis is. For his part, DeSantis knows that his success will beget a lot worse comments than this, and he knows that a verbal volley with The Donald at this time is a bad idea.

Stop cable TV. Great. But.... come here and you are bombarded by 100’s Barneys.
Just remember to vote for Trump partner.
I think a lot of that vote can be contributed to all the people who relocated to Florida and were actually smart enough to vote red. Sadly, sometimes people relocate and take their liberal voting tendencies with them.
“Just remember to vote for Trump partner.”
Ever-Trumpers here are saying they will sit it out if Trump loses the primary. Are you among them?
“I think a lot of that vote can be contributed to all the people who relocated to Florida and were actually smart enough to vote red. Sadly, sometimes people relocate and take their liberal voting tendencies with them.”
Very minor.
The gal that’s often on there with him uses the derogatory term “election denier,” so I don’t have much use for either of them.
LOL. Your little Cruzer fantasy about SanctusDeo is not going to become reality therefore I dont have to worry about that. Just vote for Trump capice?
I LOVED Varney used to watch every morning, however haven’t turned on Fox in 2 years very sorry Varney is taking up the Fox TDS such a shame, Trump has gone through absolute HELL to be POTUS of this country and the PEOPLE!! It absolutely nauseates me that people on this site are turning on him after ALL he has been through, after ALL EVERYONE that has surrounded him have been through people here on this site make me sick, it is just MOVE ON, what a bunch of ungrateful SOB’s!! Trump has been up against a weaponized government deep state he LOST MONEY as POTUS fighting for us YET half of us turn on him GIVE ME ADAMN BREAK we get what we deserve, we get the country we deserve just like voting the BASTARDS McConnell, and Graham into office for DECADES!! You all go ahead and vote and support DeSantis THEN when he becomes another Bush because of ALL THE BIG MONEY kiss your country GOODBYE!! Continue to watch ALL of your jobs go to China, Continue to watch ALL of your pharmaceuticals come from China, continue to watch our oil industries be decimated BECAUSE DeSantis will be bought and paid for, just as Bush another GREAT governor became bought and paid for!!!
“LOL. Your little Cruzer fantasy about SanctusDeo is not going to become reality therefore I dont have to worry about that. Just vote for Trump capice?”
Biden sends you his thanks..
“What evidence do you have that DeSantis was not true to the conservative cause as governor? “
I never stated DeSantis was not true to the conservative cause. All I said was DeSantis is not a wealthy man and campaigns are expensive.
It has been my observation big political donors are rarely altruistic. People who invest hundreds of thousands of dollars, or millions of dollars, seek a return on their investment. This is one reason conservative Republican voters are often disappointed in how their GOP Congresscritters vote once elected to office.
I am not aware DeSantis is today overly influenced by any wealthy donors. If he runs for President he will need to raise a billion dollars or more to fund his campaign win the nomination and get to Election Day. That kind of money will likely have strings attached to it. Sometimes the strings don’t matter because the candidate’s platform is aligned with the donor’s goals. In other instances compromises may be required.
My personal opinion is DeSantis has been a very fine governor. If I had lived in Florida during the 2022 election I would have voted for him. I did live in Florida when Jeb Bush was governor and I thought he did a good job as governor. He earned my vote for re-election at the time.
While I thought Jeb was a good governor I did not vote for him in the 2016 GOP primary for president. I did not agree with all of Jeb’s positions and did not think he would be as good a president as other choices (Trump, Paul, and Cruz specifically) from a policy perspective. As far as 2024 is concerned, DeSantis should be a strong conservative candidate in the primaries should he run. Will I vote for him? It depends on the issues in 2024 and his stance on those issues versus other candidates. It also depends on how well he continues to govern Florida.
“All I said was DeSantis is not a wealthy man and campaigns are expensive.”
No. Ypu responded to the following post:
by saying donations rarely come without condition and that is why GOP polititions don’t walk the talk after being elected clearly implying that DeSantis was a flawed candidate.
My response was to highlight that during his four terms there is no evidence that he has sacrifice his conservative principles as payback to his donors.
Republican "confab" = GOPe and RINO's alike giving one of their own a standing O.
DeSantis came VERY CLOSE to losing his governors race UNTIL Trump stepped in and saved him, I am very involved in politic YET I had never heard of DeSantis OR what he had done with the freedom caucus when he was running for governor SO to me at that time he was NOT that impressive!! He has done a great job as governor HOWEVER like I said DC is a different animal!!
1 day ago · Donald Trump is a "three-time loser" who should clear the field so as to let Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claim the mantle, according to Ken Griffin. So, according to this financial genius, a three time loser needs to get out of the way to "let DeSantis claim the mantle".
What does that really say about Griffin's confidence in DeSantis?
He's saying this: Griffin can't control Trump, so he needs a puppet he knows he can control.
“DeSantis came VERY CLOSE to losing his governors race UNTIL Trump stepped in and saved him, “
Exactly how?
What changed Varney and many conservatives was the series of unprovoked personal attacks by Trump on DeSantis and Younkin etc-poor move by Trump, he can recover but he has to change the personal attacks and go with issues.
Not that polls mean that much but see this switch in th elast few days:
Iowa
DeSantis — 59% (+25)
Trump — 34%
New Hampshire
DeSantis — 59% (+28)
Trump — 31%
Nevada
DeSantis — 53% (+11)
Trump — 42%
RE: Not that polls mean that much but see this switch in th elast few days:
Whose poll was it and what is their accuracy record?
We’ve got a number of people like this guy on FR of late. Don’t waste your time with them.
I’m again depressed following this election. At least we’ve won the House.
I always thought the one thing you could count on in the USA were the elections.
One Election Day, paper ballots, results posted before midnight. Now what a joke.
