HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Reports of longer than anticipated lines and delays, as well as claims of insufficient balloting materials, have led to not only the Texas governor calling for an investigation into Harris County's Election Day process, but also a lawsuit against the county's elections administrator.

Gov. Greg Abbott, who won a third term last Tuesday, cited voters frustrated by delays including missing keys, insufficient paper ballots in Republican precincts, and staffing problems.

"The allegations of election improprieties in our state's largest county may result from anything ranging from malfeasance to blatant criminal conduct," Abbott's office wrote in a statement. "Voters in Harris County deserve to know what happened. Integrity in the election process is essential. To achieve that standard, a thorough investigation is warranted." (Snip) In the immediate wake of Abbott's call, the Harris County Republican Party filed a civil lawsuit against Tatum.

The party claims, among several issues, 23 polling locations, most of them in GOP strongholds, were without paper, prompting voters to be turned away. Party officials did not offer proof of who the voters were.

How convenient that 23 known Republican precincts ran out of paper ballots,Turning away thousands. Requests from precincts To the election administrator for additional paper began as early as 7:30 AM and were never acted upon and election officials were hung up on. Many first hand accounts of these events have been broadcast on KTRH 740 Michael Berry’s Show. Some precincts were provided one half fhw number of ballots provided in the 2022 primary. Lina Hidalgo (D) “won” the race for County judge versus Alexandra Mealer by approximatley 15,000 of more fhan 1.5MM votes, less than 1% of the counted vote. The probability that this was unintentional is remote. These facts will all come out. These people are the true threat to democracy - They are professional grifters and will Not be stopped until they are held accountable and until the Republicans take proactive action to stop the next steal. We must think of them in the same way as terrorists. What will be their next step and how to prevent it. Seems to me would be better to stop the spill than try to put the milk back in the bottle.

Seems like Abbott has found a pair. Good for him. Hope he keeps it going and gets more aggressive.

Start bussing illegals to Maricopa Cty and Phoenix. Let’s see how Ducey and his replacement handle them

It’s fairly clear Dems plan to move all their voters to mail in ballots.

They then and are presently sabotaging same day Election Day voting.

This increases their path IBD by engaging in direct voter suppression of republicans.

One of the first orders of business for the House Republicans should be a constitutional amendment setting a nationwide election procedure. No mail-in ballots except for specific reasons, all absentee ballots to be received no later than 5 days before the election, 5 days of early voting and the actual Election Day is a national holiday. It won’t get past this Senate but it will start the ball rolling. Our current system is an international embarrassment.

This is one model for how to fix fixed elections. Another one is the GOPe model of taking your loss and demanding your payoff from the dems who you agree to work with.

Recently appointed Harris Co elections administrator Clifford Tatum has a history of these shenanigans from his former position in Washington DC.

“Citizens in Harris County, Texas are reporting voting machine outages and paper shortages across the Houston area county.

To many Republicans following the news, this may not come as a surprise as the state’s largest county recently hired a Democrat election official with a poor reputation.

Former Washington D.C. and Georgia election official Clifford Tatum was elected as the Harris County elections administrator on Aug. 16, 2022, after a failed attempt at overseeing votes in the nation’s capital.

Republican Party chair Cindy Siegel was the only person to vote against Tatum, complaining a 2012 election Tatum oversaw had “Wrong ballots. Machines not working. People’s ballots not programmed correctly. Huge lines.”

In 2012, The Washington Examiner reported the D.C. election cycle Tatum was in charge of was “plagued by long lines, ballot errors and malfunctioning equipment,” with a woman serving as an advisory neighborhood commissioner saying at the time, “It was a disaster and completely unreal. One of my constituents compared it to voting in a Third World country.”

“Constituents continually came to me saying they were handed the wrong ballot,” the woman said. “It was the worst day ever for the Board of Elections.”

Even current D.C. Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser was frustrated with Tatum’s poorly run 2012 election, calling his excuses for the failure “disrespectful.”

After that debacle, exactly ten years ago, Tatum told lawmakers, “It’s our intent for that particular breakdown not to happen again.”

As Blaze TV reporter Allie Beth Stuckey pointed out on Twitter, Tatum also owes over 100 thousand dollars in income tax, which Texas state Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) brought attention to after Tatum was selected as Harris County election administrator.

Despite valid concerns, the Houston Chronicle dismissed Republican objections to Tatum being elected as the top Harris County election official with headlines such as “GOP Is Already Attacking Harris County’s New Elections Administrator, Citing Tax Lien.”

Now, during a crucial 2022 midterm election, the largest county in Texas is going through election-day issues with Tatum at the helm.

Local Houston news outlet KHOU 11 reports, “Voters across Harris County reported polling issues early Tuesday morning and they continued into the evening.”

At the stadium where the NFL’s Houston Texans play, nearly half of the voting machines available to voters went down and similar errors were reported across the county.

“Meanwhile, the election judge at BakerRipley on Navigation Boulevard said they were slow to open because they didn’t have the proper election supplies dropped off, including the key to open voting machines,” KHOU 11 reports, also saying a handful of voters were waiting as early as 7 a.m. where they had seen more than 200 people come and go without voting.

Voters at one location were turned away entirely and told to vote somewhere else because “the machines hadn’t been delivered.”

After 20 of the 60 voting machines were down at the voting center she showed up to, a Houston woman confronted Tatum on camera, criticizing him for voters being turned away.

“For that to not be ready when you had Friday, Saturday and Sunday to make sure we were good, I mean that has never happened at this poll,” she said.

After the mass “malfunctions,” Tatum was able to get Harris County to extend voting times by an hour.

In what could be an opportunity for foul play, voters who get in line after 7 p.m. are only able to cast provisional ballots, which are added to the vote count after election night so they can be manually processed.

Mealer won that race no mistaking that......we need to get Houston back to the Red City it used to be but as long as it’s Blue we can expect the usual stealing in elections until people set fires under the State Representatives and Senators to do something about it.

Texas needs to do Florida style voting laws, for starters, and then, if he has powers like DeSantis, Abbott should fire the election heads in these blue counties.
