So, Where to Now?

As an old talk radio guy, I tend to listen to several talk shows, more out of prior professional interest than anything else. I tuned into Glenn Beck today and didn’t last too long. Nothing against Glenn, I just couldn’t listen to another post-election post-mortem and another diagram of who had to do what for the odds to shift for someone to win the House or Senate in one state or another.

We have analyzed the 2022 midterms to death. Now it only remains to be seen what we do moving forward, provided we even move forward. For example, as Matt Margolis mentioned, do Republicans have to come to terms with the fact that mail-in ballots are a reality and develop a plan to deal with them? Is it time to send Mitch McConnell to the showers? Ted Cruz probably thinks so, and he blasted McConnell during his latest podcast. The Daily Caller quoted Cruz as saying to co-host Ben Ferguson:

“Well, Ben, let me start off by saying I am so pissed off, I cannot even see straight. We had an extraordinary opportunity. We had a generational opportunity. This should have been a fundamental landslide election. We should have won the House and the Senate. We should have a 30, 40, 50 vote majority in the House. We should have 53, 54, 55 Republicans in the Senate,”

I agree with Senator Cruz. But also more personally, I think we are done. Without the elimination of mail-in balloting, we will never win another close election ever. And how can we affect voting law changes at the state level if governorships and state houses are Democrat controlled?

Cruz was right, but what’s the net worth of being right in 2022? Still about 2 cents, WITH inflation factored in.

The republicans will catch on to the mail-in voting and ballot harvesting operations, and in two or three more election cycles we’ll have 280 MILLION votes cast and reported with straight faces as if they are all legitimate, but 100 MILLION or more will be fake.

Ted Cruz needs to be a judge, and probably should be sitting on the Supreme Court right now.

The GOP could fix itself in a heartbeat by taking seriously the concerns and consensus positions of the American public.

All they have to do is to start doing their jobs. Honestly, that’s it. If they would stop trying to force unpopular positions on people over divisive issues, and instead deal with issues where there is consensus, come next election the Democrats will wonder just how their own campaigns could have derailed so badly in two short years!

I’ve been voting since 1969. I vote every election no matter how small. I no longer believe in elections. Ever since I voted for Dino Rossi in Washington and watched his win slip away after a week of “counting” mail in ballots, I’ve acted like the kid digging through the box of horse shit believing that there was a pony in the bottom. Sorry folks. It took me a while to admit it to myself. But there is no pony. We’re done. It’s been a nice ride while it lasted.

We will all be forced to live the way the ruling class wants us to live and will all be forced to smile.

In Republican states send 5 ballots to every R in that state. In non Republican states: every (registered) voter will get a mail in ballot. One week later, go to the elections office claiming you never received your ballot. This is off the top of my head. Need to cheat to stay a Republic. George Washington and the The Patriots also had to cheat to win.

Where have YOU been? Abortion bans, bounties, restricted crossing of state lines. Then there was the Social Security sunsetting that they could have taken off the table (but refused to).

Don’t vote for any national/state candidates next time. Write in yourself.

Pretty much where I am at.

What really pisses me off is the thought of the country/world my kid and his kids will live in as a result of all of this evil and corruption taking root.

That has been my major concern all along.

Since when did the libs have the monopoly on using the mail?

Yes, the game is different. Yes, it is not what most folks on the right are comfortable with doing, but you don't win a battle by using tactics that the adversary has already shown they can defeat. You can cry about it, but guaranteed, if multiple governors can be elected without participating in a single debate by claiming the other candidate is too extreme to even allow to share a stage, you can bet nobody will bother debating Trump.

The goal on the right should now be to flood the historically low information, low participation voters first, get them to vote for "our" candidates, microtarget different populations and work on their emotions to get them to vote for "our" candidates as early as possible or hold off on voting for "their" party. Use every trick they are accused of using and do it twice as well. They want democracy, double down and give it to them good and hard.

When they sue for peace, then move for a national election holiday, national voter ID, and elimination of the tactics that are unsavory.

Mail in ballots help the relatively lethargic Dem voting base to vote more often than they would. Even if the Republicans invested more in encouraging mail-in voting, vote harvesting, etc. it wouldn't add that much to the total as those who were going to vote, do so.

The Republicans and conservative independents who aren't voting will not be encouraged to vote just because mailing it in is easier. The reason they aren't voting is because they believe either that the system is rigged beyond repair, or else the Republicans won't do much even if they do get in power.

Why did anyone think this election was going to be a Republican wipeout of the Democrats?

If the Democrats win by cheating, what have the Republicans done to stop that?

If the Democrats win by having a majority of our citizens vote for them, what have the Republicans done to change that?

I have been here. It was a rhetorical question. Are you willing to soften conservative’s stance on abortion to win votes? Is your conscience ok with that?

Bingo, you are correct - I have heard this over and over.
